What to do with this hole?

i am thinking of breaking more corroded metal away and fiber glassing the inside and welding a plate on the outside.

Would this be the way forward or backward thinking?

any comments would be greatfull.

if i was you m8 i would cut the rot out and weld a new plate in to fill the hole, paint it then underseal it to stop it happening again.

Chop all the rust out and MIG new metal in. Fibreglass is just a bodge.
