good idea, and welcomehello people, im after an e30 to replace my mk4 golf gti.

Chris

My choice would be a 325i coupe 1986 - 1990. If the insurance doesn't sting you I'd get a sport.
With the money from a mk4 golf you should be able to find a mint/excellent example.
You wont regret going for the 2.5i 6 cylinder they shift. Something like this baby here:

why does everyone allways go straight for the sport, for the money you save, you could bolt on most of the extra bits yourself(imo of course).If the insurance doesn't sting you I'd get a sport.

and insurance shouldn't be anymore for a sport than normal 325.
theflops right tho, you wont regret it.
good luck with your hunt

I'd go for a tidy 318is. Ive got mine at 21 (minter, lady owner for 9 years, one bit of rot on rear wing. But a spray and a polish later i have a cracker for a grand!) and my insurance was around 650 with 0 no-claims with bell.co.uk but i also hear adrian flux are good. (ring them and talk posh and tell them your in the owners club etc and they'll take you more seriously!
)
Ive had it for 1 1/2 years and ive never not loved it for a second. Infact i was starting to get bored ... then on tuesday took the rouge rocket to curborough sprint track for a private session! THE LOVE HAS BLOSSOMED AGAIN!!! Totally standard car with soggy bushes on the back which doesnt help and it was 3 seconds behind a 5.2 litre small block chevy powered cobra kit car!!! these cars handle amazingly well. there great fun and wont bite your arse if you get it wrong! unless your in the wet!!!! A 325i or sport is less nimble due to the extra weight and admitedly there is more usable power especially in lower revs. But for a young driverm especially if its your first rear wheel powered car go for the 318IS. You wont regret it for a second! and then when you've got a few quid and you've got even more passion search out a 325 sport minter and ENJOY!!!
But dont listen to me, start trawling through the classifieds and go for a test drive! you'll understand!
Best of luck and start having some tail happy fun!!

welcome,
if the insurance on a 318is is a lot cheaper for you than a 325i/sport it is a very good alternative, mind you a nicely turned out 318i slightly modded, lowered, 15"bbs has got to be a good starting point, have fun looking
