I doubt they'd put a 4.45 on a 320.

Thats what they use on a 316 touring.

It takes allsorts eh.

Mind you, if you'd bought something then found out it was highly inadequate I guess you'd want to re-enforce your decision with false confidence so you can hardly blame them.

what a ridiculous lack of comprehension for sarcasm.

I wouldn't of thought it was lighter if it was you wouldn't be able to tell a difference.

is the 320 made a smaller capacity by a shorter stroke, or smaller bores?

If its the bores one would assume its slightly heavier? Bit more metal in the block?

It confused me when I was told it, as I thought they were pretty much identical.

I'm new here and I spent the last couple of days looking through as many threads as I can.
What's the deal with all the antagonism on here?
Looks to me like when someone asks a perfectly reasonable question (as here) it doesn't get answered because all loads of people want to do is critisise the car in question. I've seen several threads like this now.

Friendly or what??

Re the "surely you cant have read that and thought I was serious" comment, how can it be taken as anything else when your facial experssion can't be seen and the tone of your voice not heard?

The 2.0 is 80mm bore/66mm stroke and the 2.5 is 84mm bore/75mm stroke. That's why the 2.0 especially doesn't have much low down power - the stroke is too short.

blergh.......... what a shit thread, whats the big deal whether its a 1.6 1.8 2.0, 2.3 2.5 or whatever. Surely as long as its e30 its all good.
He only asked about his diff ffs.
I left wow forums because of "leet" attitudes but you expect teenage "prO" idiots on game forums. Forums dedicated to 15+ year old German cars shouldn't be littered with this crap.
And none of that is aimed at any one person just the general feeling i got reading this thread.

The question has been answered.

let the bitching commence.

That an e30zone forum rule isnt it??

Anyway...

So... technically, there is more metal in the 320 block... which would make it heavier... albeit probably only by a handful of grams.

Before anyone starts, I dont think that makes it worse or blah blah blah. Just wondering as something I was told confused me.

Cheers EB :D

Those grams from the black will be canceled out by the extra weight of the 325s con rods :) :)
