Dont start him off about folding the back seats down again to gain bhp , That electric dump valve has to go

no ,it was folding the rear seats down to lower the centre of gravity allowing for better handling around corners iirc :teehee:

folding the seats wont lose weight as your not removing them, just lowering the centre of gravity allowing better handling. i take it you are not familiar with the post that brought this to the masses?vauxhall corsa owner iirc :D

I agree with your point, but the car is a little quicker than the standard SXi and so I felt the SRi badges were appropriate. It only carries 1 person, Me. It has no extra weight in the car, all glove compartments, cubby holes and the boot is empty. The rear exhaust may or may not add power. It has only ever run on Optimax, I know you get more boost out if this fuel on bigger engined cars but every little helps. The tyres are always inflated to 38 PSI to give extra grip and less tyre slouch. Often :?: I put the rear seats flat, this reduces weight :?: . (Like why you crawl flat across a frozen pond so as not to break the ice). I regularly drive with around £10 of fuel, again weight saving, and often I use engine cleaner in the fuel load to remove debris from the fuel injectors. The car is always clean improving aerodynamic progress. I have timed the 0 - 60 at 9.3 seconds, and this shaves a couple of seconds off the standard time. Hope this answers your question.

this thread made me laugh, reminded me of an event my girlfriend will never let lie, cruising through the trough of bowland a few years ago, a cattle grid ambushed my gti, it was one of those gnarly broken looking ones where the first bar is like 5 inches high. Going far too fast to stop my gut reaction was to pull back on the wheel. "Pull a wheelie BMX style Johnny" said my inner voice, my girlfriend took ages to stop laughing at me. What a knobber.

I always go to the toilet before I go for a drive, and leave the loose change at home, and sometimes even get my hair cut.
As they say at Tesco " Every little helps"!!

It's always a sensible measure to fold back your door mirrors before taking to the road also - saves alot of drag (some 0.03Cd in fact) and a few ml of fuel per few hundred miles.

Been out with mates tonight and the wing mirrors were mentioned as they create drag , Whatever next ... Remove the wipers or point them in the air 8O

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Think man THINK! The fuel efficiency and acceleration gained by saving weight stripping your paint will be counteracted by the increased drag due to a rougher surface - i would advise you to remove the paint from the rear of your car though and possibly also remove small amounts in strips from the front edge of your bonnet and the front of your roof to create vortices - much cheaper than those little fins you can buy from ebay winkeye

Or strip the entire body back to bare metal and polish it daily with Autosol or similar (for streamlining), followed up perhaps (there will be a weight penalty of course) with a little wax.
