Oh good old caerphilly mountain, couldn't get much out of 45mph on that, but I was on my Moutain bike and it was a little windy...GwynleyM10, try 75mph on a racing bike down Caerphilly mountain. Tyres are less than an ich wide and running 125psi wearing only a lycra skinsuit..... and no helmet either... thats mad!
As for cycling down hill...I would love to try and break to downhill record, which is 136mph on ice..YEs that is pedal power!

I've had my 318i up to 130mph before, hit the rev limiter in 5th
so couldn't go any more.
fasted i've been is 175mph, once in a mates saab turbo-not standard, was pushing just over 400bhp.... the other time was a few weeks ago in my mates mit's evo8, fq340, got to 175, and still had some to go, but we didn't feel brave enough, he said his conkers weren't that big

my misses used to have a maestro turbo, she just read this and got well excitedplacey wrote:car - 150mph in a meastro. yep a maestro. it was a modded turbo with a calibrated speedo running 14psi if i remember. de-stickered and de-kitted too - best sleeper i've ever seen or can think of. mental car. shame the owner parked it half-way up a tree a few months later.
paul

She can back you up on that, she used to have 150 out of hers and in her words *it was begging to do more*
It was had a T16 conversion, head work, chip, exhaust and all the other malarky, her claim to fame....
14 dead at santa pod, running poo boost and the back box in the boot where it had fallen off!
Bless her

It was on that long hill on the M11 coming down towards the M25. I won't pretend it was peaceful but I was young and fearless. It also did 29,000 miles of serious abuse over two years without an oil change before it died!Felt better than the 325 at 120 though, that was getting very light at the front, think I need to check the suspension.6potWil6pot wrote:106mph out of a 1.1 Uno!![]()

120 mph in an old XK140 Jag I owned many years ago. Doesn't sound much but try stopping one with drum brakes and no servo.

I hit 172 mph in my bros mitsu 300gt twin turbo a few weeks back, man u cover a hell of a lot of road very very quickly, and u just pray to got that nothing pulls into ur lane at that speed, coz u know if it does the 999 crew will be scraping u off the road for weeks.

181 Modified Yamaha thunderace on a B road a good few years back
42mph in lycra down hill on an old Peugot racing bike, going to try and break my record this year but in leathers and a proper helmet
85mhp in a Bugatti 35B aero screens and cable operated drums all round
130mph in the 325i has anyone got any idea what actual speed this is??? Surely it can't be more than 10% out? Then again the speedos are electronic so maybe they are accurate.

Forgot to mention my old Yamaha fizzie would do 72mph with tailwind LOL
Yeah well I have done about 150 in my E30 323i at the track
.
I'll just forget to mention that it was km/h. The fastest I have been on the road is probably 110km/h, where do you guys get up to those speeds. I don't feel comfortable over about 110km/h on the road and I can't get to a track with a long enough straight to get my 323i over 150km/h.

I had 125 outa my 4 gear 1.2 nova! Lasted for about 10 seconds then blew a hole the size of my fist through the block shot oil all ova the truck behind me and then caught fire on the hard shoulder. Rang my mate then and asked him to bring water....he turned up with a mcdonalds and said dont worry bout it eat and watch lmao
Bloody entertaing looking back on it lol
BMW through an through now mind lol, that was my first car the nova, so far only taken the 318is up to 110 coz of a top mount out on the suspension.

about 167mph before i decided to stop looking at the speedo and start praying being a passenger in my mates nissan 200sx running 400 bhp racing a subaru.
In the bmw (driving this time), clocks registered 145, i recon about the 130 mark give and take a few mph, just before the cupra R i was racing decided to slow down.

Autisa 65cc.
I had an AR50 with the 80 engine and a big bore, stock carb and a Micron - 75mph
I shoehorned a ported Honda H100 motor into an MT5, it would only do about 55 due to excessively low gearing but would wheelie like a mad thing.
Anyone else into bikes on here?

About 180-200 (no speedo) on a GP bike in '91
218 on the clock in my brothers GT
Flat out on my way back to the boat every couple of weeks in my Audi S8, 180 or so, speedo reads right as I put a bigger tyre on my 20"s to overcome the 10% the speedo over reads.
125 in my Mk1 GTi G60 and it felt like 300

BIKES
Did 35mph on my mates fifty when I was about 20. Crapped myself!!
CARS
Once had to borrow my mums 205 diesel to go to newquay. Took to mates and all our camping gear. Got 100 on the speedo down a hill. That was scarey, it was like driving a sponge on stilts!! took about 5 miles to get to that speed!!!
In my 320i cab I had about 125 on the dial, til some tw@t in a Chicken Paxo (read citroen saxo) decided to pull into the outside lane on the M5. Fast enough!
Had 135 on the Sherborne dual carriageway in my mates Saab 9000 turbo. The car cost him Ԛ£50!! He sold it for Ԛ£250 I think. Thats lots of speed for no money!
My thought is 100 mph in a battered pug diesel is a damn sight more scarey than 150 in a state of the art Mitsi flying machine!!

Fastest I got (indicated) with the M42 was ~135 (with a 3.25 rearend! 4th gear, 6200)
With the 24v, I've only taken 5th all the way on one occasion. Pulled to 6800 and couldn't get it any further...but ~158mph (5th, 3.73)
