The police do tend to smash the windscreen to stop the drivers being able to see where they are going if they try and make a break for it...
Assuming the car is repairable, i have a new front screen you can have for nowt, transport might be an issue though...

He will probably get a slap on the wrist couple of hours community service and a damn good telling off by his mam,
Personally i would tie him to a tree and pour petrol on him and light him(Honestly)sadistic F**ker me!
Mind you if your tax has ran out you will get an internal search your garden dug up house searched and dragged through the courts.
Stick with it and get it sorted and be carefull where you leave it may i suggest a nasty hungry dog alarm system like we have in my birds Freelander basically if they get in it the dog will chew on their knackers until they stop kicking.
All the best.......Chin Up.

Thieving f*ckin' b*stard! I'd attack the light-fingered c*nt using a VERY blunt knife for added prolonged agony, and make him bleed to death, starting with his knackers, ...
If you can get your hands on the mother-f*cking piece of sh*t, and KILL HIM, I have a patch of garden you can bury him in...
Good luck getting the car fixed.

Cheers for the offers guys, may need to take you up on a few!
I just hope the turd did'nt wreck anything else I could'nt see earlier. I can only contact the insurance claims people on monday so i'll wait to find out the next move with the car then. At the moment, the cars racking up a nice recovery and storage bill so I'm keen to get them moving on the case.
Has anybody had any experience with buying cars back from the insurance company (assuming it's classed as an uneconomic repair)? The cars been with me a long time, has shed loads of history and was a nice example (up until last week!) so i'd like to try and keep it on the road.

Just to let you know, the company who are holding the car can't charge storage on the car until the police release it, although they will try it.
They will however charge the statutory £105 recovery charge, and if it's the company I'm thinking of (yellow lorries!?) there may be specialist charges on top.
As for the windscreen, as Mark said, if they caught the guy driving the car, then the police will have smashed the screen to hamper his view through it.

I'm afraid it will definitely be an insurance write off - probably class C, by the description. Hopefully not B, or you won't be able to put it back on the road.
Whether you can buy it back depends on the policy of the individual insurance companies.
If it's drivable, and considered roadworthy (otherwise the police won't let you), get it back onto your own property as soon as you can.

mixed news I guess dude. Either way it can only get better from here. Incedentally - court cases are open to the public so maybe we should organise an e30zone "welcoming party" at his
E46 M3 CSL but dreaming of another E30.
Sorry to hear about the car dude, deffinatly recommend a disc lock (about £80) Very strong, just make sure you get the proper one:

not the cheap copies
Best wishes with getting it sorted

May have to follow him home though, don't think it's a good idea to 'deter' him from nicking E30s outside the Courts...

I have the same disc lock on my cab Andy. It really is the only one to use. If someone tries to steal the car the wheel cant be got at easily and they can turn the wheel to break the steeting lock.Andy325i wrote:Sorry to hear about the car dude, deffinatly recommend a disc lock (about £80) Very strong, just make sure you get the proper one:

Although it doesn't have the visual deterrent of the disc lock, if this car had been fitted with a simple hidden switch short circuiting the feed to the fuel pump, then it wouldn't have been driven away!

That would be cool, 20 or so e30s' outside the court.
Although I'd like to know more about the more serious offences before we kneecap the fecker
