Hi guys,
I am needing your help finding a good car!

I am looking for Either a Johnny Cecotto or a Evo 2.

I have seen a few examples....and lets just say they were not what I was looking for  !

I don't mind colours but would prefer Macau blue or Silver.

Any of you guys willing to sell your pride and joy or know of a good car for sale.

Please help!

Rags,

Do you know this guy personally?
Maybe you could have a word with him?

I have tried to pursuade him but he is adamant the he is not going to sell.
He did say he maybe interested in some wheels I had though!!

If you do know this guy personally maybe you could pursuade him to sell?

perhaps I should make an offer on his wife...

Dan,
I can completely understand why you don't want to sell mate but if you ever change your mind you know where I am.

John,
That Silver EVO 2 is overpriced for the mileage compared to your car or Dans car.
I have also been offered a really nice Macau blue Evo 2 which has had a engine rebuild 5000 miles ago...but he wants alot of money for it.....or is it I am too tight to pay that much

Oh well the search goes on....If I don't find a car soon I am just going to clear all the E30 M3 parts I have.

hi
problem is its down to how you look at it
if the macaou one has had a full build by reputable company and has some warranty then u may pay extra but you know you wont have any unforseen massive bills which you may have with another cheaper car

i still think if you go look at the silver one with folded in your pocket then you may well get a good deal

it does look clean and mileage isnt everything
proper maintenance is the real aim imho

what do you see the silver one worth?

and how much is blue one ?

Jon,

The Macau Blue one is Ԛ£11000 and he is not willing to go a penny less.
The silver one is Circa Ԛ£11000.

I don't really want to spend this sort of money especially on the silver one with 80000 miles.

as ive said it really is a personal thing wth these cars and how that individual values them because they are only worth what someone will pay

id say you would get the silver one for 10 or under
in my eyes 80k is not high mileage but opinions differ considering its 17 years old

i know there are lower out there course there are but at what price
and even if they are lower what if the scuttle is fcuked or arches hangin off etc etc

seeing the explosion in sport evo prices recently up to circa 20k for 70k+ cars some or at least 3 i looked at one having been serviced at halfords "its alright tho mate cuz its been stamped by them" was the comment passed to me ,i see evo2s relatively good value in comparison
the other 2 werent all that one i wouldnt have kept a dog in but maybe im too fussy

after allthey are the rarest of the holomogations and they will make there 220hp standard and they have more torque than any other m3 inc sp evos

just my thorts

John,

I know exactly what you are saying and I really don't understand why people pay 20k+ for a sport Evo but like you said its all about what one is willing to pay.
I would like the Silver one but I don't want to pay 10k for it..I think that is too much for the car.
I have spoken to others and most have agreed that 10k is too much for that car.
I will just see what happens, you will know when I have given up looking as I will then just sell all the parts I have on s14.net and then learn to live without a E30 M3 :(

hi
fair comment its your money and your choice
tho i appreciate other peoples opinions i think sometimes people become very anal in the e30 m3 world about mileages
they will go on about how they wouldnt pay this or thats not worth it etc etc
until theirs is for sale that is...........
good late 215hp will fetch 10k if properly maintained etc

there arent too many evo2s about anymore and again irrespective of condition this will always push prices up

you will find one iam sure of that it may just take time
stick with it
what might you sell if u dont get another
iam still keping my eyes and ears open for you and if i hear anything i will email you asap

are you going to the stoneleigh show next sunday

Hi Sunny,

You are right! Evo 3's or Sport evos are overly priced for WHAT they are.
But the Cecottos are as well in reality as its just the exclusivity and a couple of refinements.

Hope you do find the car you want.

I saw a cecotto in the Trader for 6.5k last month if that helps, but condition is not known. They are about and as with car buying, you have to be patient, as finding a good one, or one at all, is difficult.

On another note, I may be interested in any parts you have.

i disagree slightly

these cars are limited editions and are homologations of the original car with cecottos being almost identical to evo 2s

they all have bits on them that other owners want to add to thier cars
16" bbs,front chin,rear gurney,front splitter lighter bumpers etc etc

once you add these prices to price given for original car you may not be that far away from what you could have given for the original car plus the one thats had the bits added will never be one of them.

for instance in rear of april total bmw there is a 96k 1989 car for 10k
and a g plate 215 hp car with 59k for 11k

they may well be mint cars they may not but add all the bits you wanna add as ive said and you could well have bought the original package

i see your point and as i say with e3s it has gone silly but only because people pay it so we the owners make it happen

just my opinion and no offence intended

none taken.

I think they look good and I would love to own a macau blue cecotto, i am just not of the opinion that they 'are noticeably' different to a normal m3, price wise. Looks wise however they look fantastic!

For example, my mate picked up a late 215 model for 5grand. Its really really nice. But a cecotto for 10 grand , surely the exclusivity in my book isnt worth 5grand.

But then its different strokes for different folks isnt it.....

Some people will pay for the exclusivity!

Guys,

I agree with both of your points of view...at the end of the day the price of the car is dictated by the demand...that I why the Evosport goes for such big money.
I use to have a 215bhp late car (91H) but now I just want one of the limited edition ones as I feel they will not loose much of the value infact they may just appreciate.

Rags,
If you are interested in the parts then give us a bell a have 2 sets of 17 bbs Split rims and the full carbon Airbox and Alpha n set up + quite a few other bits.
