Hi all,
lookin 2 buy 325i sport. found 1 with 144K on the clock but with good history. when buying 1 at this age, i knw wht to look for on the body, but will the engine need any overhauling with tht mileage, coz its gona be used everyday, so i want it reliable.
also, if i had to do the head gasket on 1 of these, wht is the total coz, parts and labour, also any other advice would be great, cheers all e30 fans...

Engine wise,i think there pretty strong (even with very high miles........i've seen one with 200k and it was still good) you need to know how it's been looked after in the past ,so delve down in it's past history and check it's maintainance records,coolant changes are a must and watch out for a cracked head ! If you've found one with a good body thou,your onto a good thing !

Even in the UK-you must check the headbolts- the old style are weak and the HEX heads tend to snap off. Just open your oil cap and take a peak- if they are hex head they shoud be relaced with TORX bolts. And always remember this is an INTERFERENCE engine-if the timing belt breaks the engine is toast. Change the belts at regular intervals 50,000-60,000 mile.
