All cabbies have it in the engine compartment, where God intended.
Touring?
Saloon?
Coupe?
pre-post facelift?
thanks

From what I've seen the rear interior space in a 2 door E30 is the same as a 4 door. therefore it's not a coupe, it's a 2 door saloon (sorry for demolishing wilding accepted concepts.)wildeian wrote:Mtec 2 sport (coupe) in the boot!

but anyway, my 1987 325i SE auto along with a few other choice options.
Excuse my ignorance of this topic but , was there a good justified reason for the battery on 325's and m3's to be in the boot??
Or was it a space factor under the bonnet??
confused ??

basically to improve the weight distribution closer to a 50/50 split. they were designed as a bit of a drivers cars which is also why the fuel tank is in front of the rear axle, this means that as it empty's it doesn't upset the handling as much as cars which had it hanging out the back (my old volvo had this)

I was asking the same question a while back and conclude that the battery in the rear was to balance the weight of water taht gets to fill up the space where the (rusty) jack is...

thanks for the replys - I wasn't asking WHY, I was asking which ones had the battery 'where'.
I've found a boot tidy for a battery-NOT-in-the-boot E30, so I wondered which models it would fit.
