Discovered yesterday my beloved Touring needs to have a meeting with a welding torch!
Don't want to say the words to loud as the old Tourer doesn't know I know she needs welding
Got a small hole about the size of a penny next to my pass side suspension turret, looks like my body work man will have an extra job to to do when my insurance claim comes in!
I'm still coming to terms with this discovery, when I feel up to it and the Tourings in a good mood i'll go into the garage and discuss it with her.
Until then i'll just pretend everythings ok!

go out, start her, let her heat up, stroke the dash lovingly and sayJesus325iTouring wrote:Discovered yesterday my beloved Touring needs to have a meeting with a welding torch!

"you're getting to that age girl, where "plastic surgery" can help you regain those youthful looks"
or
"i'm sorry, its for the best though"
then just sit and let her tell you what she thinks

Some great suggestions coming in there (except Simon for Marks edited comment! LOL).
I was wondering, perhaps I shouldn't say anything and carry on as normal, but when the day comes for the,as Mr 320touring says "plastic surgery" i should arrive at work as though everything is normal, switch her off and remove her ECU,then push her next door to the body work man for attention.
Removing her brain should just result in a few hours memory loss ( I could put back the clock in the dash a couple of hours!) Hopefully then she'll be none the wiser.
Would this method work?

Rog, battery would be disconnected for some welding so she won't feel a thing.
Or you could try the line "this'll only hurt for a minute luv"
Have you had wet passenger carpet by any chance?

It's only a teeny hole above the inner wing next to the suspension turret,so she won't have felt herself getting wet "down there"
Thing with only disconnecting the battery is she may not feel it,but she will know about it,i'm concerned it may damage her mental state

Its funny how a car can become such an integeral part of your life that it would hurt to lose it. I know the posts above are in jest but I would really feel bad about losing my car. Its so much a part of my life that to lose it would hurt.
Im not saying I want to go out and give it a hug but just knowing its there tucked up in its garage just makes me feel better. She is about to go to Ant for the annual service and I dont mind because I know Ant loves E30's and he will take good care of her. I know she will come back in better health so im happy

I like the extra spoiler bit on yours,I wouldn't mind one,but I know it would only stay on for five minutes the places I drive!

does she have a donor card? im sure she could go towards helping many other beemas with less 'terminal' illnesses. take her to sweden, give her the 'tablet' and let her go to sleep gently whilst wiping her badge.....then have her flown back here, and have her major organs donored for the good of the less terminal beemas, she was a good girl, but im afraid she has to go.....now start singing very quietly....
...goodnight sweetheart well its time to go.....

LOL at you two!
Her recent heart transplant went well, her rewire today went well, head lights have been fixed and so have her wipers.
So all this has mean't she is in a jolly mood, and definatly maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaany years from being a donor!
