The iS is handy

most ins companies treat the iS as a normal 318i

as NEIL(320Touring) says even though the IS have more horses its cheaper than a 320i but more power.

im not your age group but 1ncb 24 and 500quid. my 318i was 750quid 0ncb norwich union.

not sure about classic insurance though.

Am 19 with 2 years noclaims and i found it cheepeat with Directline at Ԛ£1470. you cant get a classic policy till your 21 even though the e30 is a classic.

i also am looking to turbo my is ready for nrxt year and got a quote off adrian flux for me at 20 and hopefully 3 years no claims for 1300 all in :D food for thought winkeye

they were both fully comp! :D

sorry to hijack thread.

Try insuring under your parents name, directline will still give you a ncb as a named driver(so the averts say).

nice choose of car, got any pics

Im 26 and got quoted 300 quid for a 318is, thats only 17 quid less than they quoted me for a 325is. I have 4 years no claims. Its cheaper on insurance for me on a 325is than it is on my 316i e36 coupe which i pay 367 on, How bizzare is that !!! By the way, Those quotes were from 'MORETHAN'.

To insure your car as a classis, normally it has to be garaged overnight, normally it also has to be your 2nd car, and the drivers have to be over 25!

Directline do advertise you get your own NCB as a named driver on someone elses policy, which is nice..... BUT the NCB is not transferable, it's only with Directline... hmmmmmmmmmm

Craig, just to cheer you up, i used to pay Ԛ£200 FC protected etc on the 318iS 8O

Use Confused.com or Moneysupermarket to search loads of different insurers. I'm 30 and pay Ԛ£290ish to insure my 325ix through Quinn. Not bad for an imported left-hooker I reckon. Ԛ£1470 sounds like daylight robbery but then it's down to your being 19. I'd probably pay more than Ԛ£1470 for the chance to be 19 again though. :D

Ԛ£675 doesn't sound bad but bear in mind that insurance companies are wise to "fronting", whereby parents insure their children's cars too. You also won't be building your own No Claims Bonus. You'll need to do some sums to work out the most efficient strategy. Consider third party, fire and theft cover to reduce your premium as well as taking a higher voluntary excess. If you've got a garage available, use it. If you're not doing many miles maybe a restricted mileage policy will reduce the premium.

here, try out lancaster insurance. i got my premium with them when i was 21 for a tad over a grand, think its something like Ԛ£1044 under a handsworth, birmingham address, and im doing 10 monthly payments so its settin me back around about 100 a month. ran a quote for a 325i sport too and its only 60 more. they're definitely worth a try.
