Hi All, Got an e mail today from Recaro in the UK about some seats that I have listed on E Bay. I was always under the impression that the sport seats were made by Recaro. Below is a copy of what they sent me. Your comments most welcome. Tempted to revise the listing to Wrecarso!!




RECARO has a policy to watch e-Bay for sellers who are offering counterfeit items or using the RECARO brand name, which is protected worldwide, without our consent to promote non RECARO products.

As a result of this policy, your item was identified as infringing against eBay?s brand name policy for the incorrect use of the brand name RECARO, as the seats pictured are not RECARO seats, but seats from another manufacturer.

TBH its a bit crap- everyone knows they aint proper recaro seats, but thats what everyone calls them

just like pre facelift cars can be referred to as tech1 whether they have the kit or not.

Its a bit Anal, and not really enhancing the reputation of the brand.

anyway, they aint being sold commercially, so how can they interfere?

try selling them as a "couple"

In fairness its not a particularly snotty email.

However advertising non Recaro's as Recaros is daft as it could easily backfire if the buyer isnt aware of the differences. How much do you value your feedback?

Just put 'Like Recaro's' as that is what they are!
If you put they were Recaro's then i agree with Rich above and Recaro although being a bit anal as has been said are well within their rights to object!

It seems strange to me that they have only registered today on E bay and have not requested Ebay to end the listings.

I was always under the impression that the seats were made by Recaro and I will check to see if there is a makers name. Does anyone know? Till I can confirm maker , the listing will stay as is unless removed!

I don't know who makes BMW 'sports' seats but it isn't recaro. genuine recaros were an option, and are styled slightly differntly.

They've been doing this for a while, there was a thread about it about a month back. Whoever started the thread did actually have the listing removed.

The seats are designed by recaro, and made under licence.
