318is Spring Height?
Moderator: martauto
Excuse the advanced mathematics
but if eibach springs are quoted as giving a 35mm drop for the 318i and 318is and the 318is is 20mm lower as standard, does this mean that the car will only drop 15mm over standard?
I think your right. Look at this site.......
http://www.motechdirect.co.uk/motechdir ... P&inc=apex
For the 318 it has the code BM4, which is......
"BM4 = Cars factory fitted with M-tech suspension will lower 10-15mm less."
Ian.

Think I may have some suspension issues. Bought a 60/40 kit. The fronts are lovely, but the rears look standard height?
Gonna drive it a couple of weeks and see if they settle down.

that is correct! 318is uses 325i struts where as 318i uses 45mm ones so the springs will be totally different for the 2 carsCava wrote:Excuse the advanced mathematicsbut if eibach springs are quoted as giving a 35mm drop for the 318i and 318is and the 318is is 20mm lower as standard, does this mean that the car will only drop 15mm over standard?
Yeah, iv noticed that they do things like that. I was told that if i wanted a h&r 60/40 kit then i just buy the 325 sport one. Pretty sure thats right. Theres not gonna be 2 different types of sport suspension is there??

From reading a few books and articles over the last few days, I think that you can trust the 325i sport set up to be the same as the 318is. Their seems to be a lot of confusion regarding the correct parts to be fitted to the 318is - not helped either by Bmw, they seem to list alternative part numbers for loads of items!

right, a 318iS has the same suspension and brakes as a 325i. suspension was taken directly from a sport. brakes are the same as any 325i, minus abs as that was an option on 318iS.
just buy bits for a 325i in this department and u won't go far wrong

Hi.
Can anyone tell me what is the spring rate of the original suspension of the 318is.
IԚ´m making a set of coil overs for the front and need to know this, otherwise i donԚ´t know what spring rate i should go for
Regards.
