Is this an adjustable FPR...? If so, I've heard numerous stories of this happening.

My sympathy's with you on this one.

I witnessed the same thing on E30Adam's FPR, rip it out, they are a fire hazard as you have just witnessed....

The fuel leaks out and sprays over the dizzy cap, nice.

i was horrified to discover that this little device is just "friction fit" into the injector rail. i inadvertently removed my FPR when stipping the engine as i couldnt get the fuel hose off. i cant believe how badly it seems to be engineered considering the consequences if it comes slightly dislodged.
1) how can it be removed - ie what do you replace it with ?
2) if there is no FPR what regulates the fuel pressure (i have a racing fuel cell and swirl pot so do i need it anyway ??

thanks

The standard FPR will be fine... it's only the aftermarket adjustable FPR's that have horror stories attached to them.

To me that looks like a standard FPR though, a slight tear in the seal can do that.

The standard one is held in place by two bolts.

turn out the seal isnt to good and the fuel line is a bit kinked.
In the pic you an see thatswhere the leak came from.

the fire wasn't to bad as i check it this afternoon.
Look like only the hood insulator got burnt up real good.
Cause I put out the fire quick looks like All the hoses and lines didnt get melted. So after I clean the bay
up I'll see if there was anymore damages. Hope I just have to replace the FPR seal and all
the hoses and lines and the car should be ok.
