Every time I recommended an insurance company, they always turn out more expensive when it's time for renewal.

Swiftcover were cheapest for me this year - I like the fact you don't have to deal with call centres. Everything is done online. You even print your own certificates!

Give HIC a bell on 01279 506090 They dont care about mods as long as they dont cost more than £2500 (i think) and add over 15bhp to the engine. Always been cheapest for me by far

Then use this quote in www.confused.com (first alternative quote on here also)

I'm about to renew my insurance for my 325i Touring, I was with elephant and they quoted me a renewal of £850 F/C.

I've looked about and I'm going to go with Privelige (sp), they quoted me £450 F/C with £200 excess. I'm 22 with 5 years no claims.

Quite cheap I thought!

im with elephant, i pay 690 with 2 years ncb and pass plus tpft. companies vary alot between people. My advice is just to spend a while on the net. also i dont think brokers are too good. i tried confused.com and the best quote was touching a grand.

Just to add to this post does anyone recomend insurers for engine conversions, over the internet?

Ye i got the same problem.
Need new insurance but the car is now modified (lowered 40mm and non standered alloys)and a lot of people wont insure modified cars.
Found one place that was not to bad at £250 ish (inc alloys) but if a put in that I lowerd the car it goes up to £ 550 ish.

I need a good car insurance that deals with modified cars.

Ask them about their regular policies. Very cheap. Like £508 fully comp for a modded 325, 22 years old with no NCB.

Bud.. Havent read all reply here but i will be taking my next policy out with Adrian Flux..

my car was valued for 6k :) so this is what i had the insurance company insure it for, obvioulsy got to supply 6 photos of mods etc, this was on Fully comp with 1 yr Ncb and i was quoted £488 with 250 exess which is high but not that bad considering my premium..

not sure on wether yer details will change things but this is put down on a car that does less then 5k a yr,has CAT1 alm/mob fitted and is parked in a bay outside the house with me as the only driver..cant remember if i said socail/commute though.

give em a try anyway

Don't forget to get a quote from Adrian Flux. Price for a new policy may be well below that of a renewal.

Thought i'd throw my tuppence worth in..

I used to be with Tesco on my '88 325i coupe at the age of 19 with no NCD for £1650 fully comp, which went up a few more quid when i swapped to a '90 325i touring..

I'm now 21 and looking for another e30 as a daily driver but am currently insured on my new toy, still with no NCB (as the 325i coupe was a total loss and i haven't held insurance since that policy expired..) with Lancaster - £972 fully comp. with AA relay cover, 10k miles and an agreed valuation on one of the last handful of Talbot Sunbeam Lotus'; fully modified as she used to be raced in the toyo road super saloon series..

..in short - a serious bit of kit for a good price considering i'm a young driver, and Adrian Flux wouldn't touch me for less than £2.5k, in fact i've never had a half decent quote from them on anything!

Russ..

Hi Gouki

Try Performance Direct.

I had my last Sport with them with all mods declared right down to leather handbrake lever etc. They were good with all the details but I have never claimed so I don't know what they'd be like in the event of a claim.

I currently have my MX-6 2.5 V6 insured through Performance Direct and my 325i Cab with Carole Nash on a classice limited mileage policy.

By the way, try a smaller local broker. You may be surprised at how reasonable they can be and being smaller they can take a greater interest in your car and the mods. and offer a more bespoke policy.

Good luck.

another HIC man here had my sport with them and now have the alpina on a classic with them too, found them to be much better than adraim flux their sister company. They are both owned by the same bloke!

You might get it cheaper somewhere else but its the agreed valuation that concerns me the most...having a £300 fully comp premium means nothing to me if the car gets nicked and they wont budge on a £3000 payout... you can insure it to whatever value you want, but dont expect them tonpayout what you want unless its an agreed value...that too me is the sole most important thing and should be too you if yer car is modded.id much rather pay £200 more per year and know if anything happens i aint dealing with a bunch of muppets who talk shyte when its time to claim..

Adrian flux was the only company out of 4 that actually stated they would insure the pearl in the paint if its got scratched etc, this has became a problem with outher car owners who have insured via collectors/modded companys yet none of these things come to light untill you wanna claim

just be carefull is all im saying but like i said before, this suits my car,its use etc etc and obvioulsy wouldnt benefit everyone

One of the safest postcodes in Britain.
I had the 3 on a Classic policy (no mods) then got quoted for a change over to a regular policy with mods. I can barely remember what happened yesterday let alone January, so it may have been closer to £600, but it was certainly cheap. They get REALLY arsey about trackdays though. They will cancel your policy if you can't provide proof of having personal accident AND 3rd party liability on track, or wirtten conirmation of cancelling your booking. So just don't mention the T word, and keep the screwdriver in your toolbox for number plate removal (turn them over, the silver backing looks really cool).

I just renewed my insurance from today, with adrian flux, got it down to £680 tpft including me Ma as a 2nd driver. Came about as I did a general insurance quote with adrian flux and it was less than what they sent as a renewal, originally they wanted £820, pays to shop around!
