If the car gets nicked, it goes, fairy nuff, but if you get tugged, it can do you good to display your docs. in my experience.

Plus it saves the hassle of a HORT1 (producer!)

Does no-one else carry all their docs.?!! :? :)
HELL NO MATE!!!! If someone nicked my car i'd be fukked! I may make a photocopy of them all though and hide them under the carpet in the boot or somewhere equally silly. As you rightly said, it may bail you out one day! Im not being funny dave, but the copper probably shat himself when he saw the size of you! Your not exactly short or skinny are you? (i bet nobody starts fights with you when you go out!)

It is a wise idea to carry some proof of ownership with you, can save you from a producer or worse!

Being a biker and roundabout surfer I always carry mine , as do my friends..Quite a common event to be stopped for "a chat"

I believe some new law or act came into force last year enabling the police to confiscate your vehicle for silly things like wheelying, knee down and in your case, perhaps drifting, comes under the banner causing a nuisance with your vehicle and not in proper control I think

This is exactly it, it is under section 59 - Anti-Social Driving.

Should be re named "Exceptional Driving Control" and 3 points should be ADDED in so you can use them against any future convictions

dave i carry all mine in the car too, much less hassle and like you say i'm sure it can work in your favour, it answers a lot of questions immediately...

like when i got pulled in my 528i doing something similar to my sig pic, they thought it 'was a stolen car or something'.

i told them the back just let go on the roundabout, they told me i should 'get my suspension checked'. i nearly burst out laughing but got away with it.

I was considering that! But I thought against it in the circumstances...

Bryang....I totally agree, I should have exceptional driving skill points added for sure  :D

no i think you did the right thing, i was very surprised these guys even saw me as i'm usually pretty careful about sliding if i can see other cars. i can't think they got too good a look as the only caught up with me once i was off the roundabout and in a straight line again!

It was wet mate,

Wasn't pacing it or anything, she just didn't like it, probably cos she couldn't do it in the Zaffy!

Picture a Brighton living, female policewoman, who is a dog handler.

She looked a bit like this.....

The Rozzers definately judge you by your car, I've got away with all sorts of stuff in my company cars (Focus's and C-Max's), speeding, fogs on, general tooling around, which I know I would definately have got pulled for in my 325.

When I first got it I got pulled a few times for a 'spot check' when I wasn't doing anything naughty at all.

She full of shit with the crushing you car
sorry if it been said but i aint read the whole thread yet

under the police reform act you get a couple of warnings and if your given a few for stupid driving i think its three then your car will be impounded (or whoevers car you caught in ) and you will have to pay a release fee plus the storage costs etc

they been trying it on with us at cruises for a while now but its all just scare tactics

Similar thing happend to a mate a week back - he'd just bought an e36 m3, and had me and another mate passenger, couldnt resist doing 1 single donut on an open empty wet bit of carpark (probably not public road anyway) on the way out.
30 seconds later a bit further down the road four police cars surround us with a Sweeny style cut/block diagonally across the front
Get us all out, split us up etc etc. Anyone would have thought we'd just done a bankjob
In the end they told my mate they could impound his car etc if he did anything silly again similar to what happend to you
Cheers,
Robin

With regard to incidents of Anti-Social driving, I have investigated two substantial problems. One involved a youth riding around the pathways of Goldsworth Park on a motorbike. The other involved a man driving erratically and noisily in a residential close. I have dealt with both these offenders using powers under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act. Put simply, if they re-offend, they will have their vehicles confiscated which they would have to pay a substantial fee otherwise their vehicles will be crushed. This seems to have mended their ways.

i reckon you did pretty well considering. i find "new clutch officer... sorry" comes in useful. also: "that scared the shit out of me... only just bought it... used to own a fwd car"

most of all, being polite will help a lot. (even if all you want to do is call the officer an arse for bothering you while the twat who nicked your stereo gets away scot free!)

i've been pulled for lighting the rear end up round a corner in my old mk2 rs2000 (more power than my 325i and only 850kg!!!). i reached full opposite lock at 7500 rpm in 2nd i managed to blag my way out of it with just a 7 day presenter. VERY lucky though!

a point to note, sometimes brighton traffic police get sent over my way (hastings) and they have a reputation for being unreasonable arses!

i would just stay quiet and forget about it, remember drift when you can blame the weather the road etc etc, but not yourself or the car.

I would not carry documents with me, only thing i carry is photo card driving licence, as whenever i have been pulled, i just show that just play to be johnny mute! an angel, but make sures you cars legit first down to the tyres!!!

The reason they pulled me was not displaying tax, didnt' stay that calm for once as i showed them the tax disc in the window!!!!! :x

They still spouting shit

They will do anything to frighten us.
there still alot of controversity over this bloody police reform act.
But the fact is they cant inpound your vehicle unless you have been warned a few time and you also have to have this in writing.
A copper will do anything to make you think otherwise though.
we had loads of shit in south wales since this was introduced from being told that cos we were parked up at a cruise that we were all being given our first warning to some people being told that next time they seen in area there car will be impounded.

Dave, probably the worst plce to mess about thought near the palace pier as the Chavs hang round there, madiera drive way.

With regards to you carrying your documents around.....made no difference with me twice. I had just bought the M3 and got pulled twice in a week for not doing anything and I had all my docs in the car, but still received a producer.......and still had to show the documents at my local copshop.

I am down brighton this weekend, we should meet up boyo...
