Accident
Moderator: martauto
Had an accident 2 nights ago in my Alpina b3 1999. Woman crossed the road to my side and we hit head on round the drivers headlight area. If they write it off as it is 23 yo although in good nick. Was escorted home by the police due to lack of headlight so it drives ok. Is there any market for a 3.3 ltr 280bhp Alpina engine g/b. Most other parts will sell easily. Wheels, steering wheel, etc etc.
Ouch!
Take it there was only metal damage, no injuries? most important thing.
Surely they won't wright it off for that, plenty of used E46 bits and likely in the right colour too. Alpina valance looks like it missed the worst.

No injuries, the old lady even thanked me for being nice and not shouting at her. Bless her. I suppose the worry is the insurance repair people use OEM kit and charge extortionate prices which quickly add up to 60% of the insurance companies valuation. We will see.

Even if they write it off you should be able to buy it back and repair it, surely a genuine Alpina is worth saving as a complete car.
You should be able to get it fixed wherever you want, however you want DO NOT just take what they offer. If it was me I would source good used parts and get them put on the car, plenty of silver E46 being broken. You would have original paint and metal. You are not that far away, have you had a word with BMR Barry? I saw you posted on the 'pina forum, surprised he has not commented.HenryM3 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 03, 2022 2:55 pmNo injuries, the old lady even thanked me for being nice and not shouting at her. I have a silver E46 that I will be breaking next year but it is a facelift and the O/S wing has the usual rust patch otherwise I would have taken it off for you. There are plenty out there and original metal is better than the new stuff even OEM.
Thanks for the reply’s, I’ve now had an email from Halo asking for some photos which I’ve sent but I am surprised that it’s taken over a week to start communicating. I’m going to wait and hear what they have to say. Obviously I want it repaired where I don’t have to pay seeing as it wasn’t my fault.

Insurane companies are the scum of the earth, they will f**k you over given half the chance, regardless of who's fault it was.
I wouldnt be surprised if you have to pay your excess and get your own insurance company to fight the battle for you. The last accident management company I used were only in it for themselves and their courtesy car charges

Interesting comment as I have received a letter from Tesco (their insurer) asking some questions and telling me that according to what they have been told it’s my fault. I’ve passed it all on to my insurance. Having said that when I called my insurance and passed it on they didn’t have a record of the witness details or police report number which I had given them the morning after the accident. I am not feeling confident that any of them are competent or overly interested

That tells you all you need to know that the silly cow is making up stories. From your photo it's blindingly obvious she's on your side of the road. I take it there's no dashcam?
Best thing is to try and find similar cars for sale or sold recently. Or even rally the Alpina owners if someone has a similar one to make a case for it's value for repair etc. How much other damage is there? It would be a shame for the old girl to be catagorised for the sake of some body work. Always see E30's which are cat d or c from mid 00's and 10's when they were dirt cheap and a dent put a marker on their HPI checks.
They have asked for some pics of the car from all corners and after looking at them and checking used prices they have decided to repair. I still have the car on the drive as they prefer to leave it there while they gather the main parts they can see are damaged.
They have decided to repair. From the photos I sent they have ordered parts. I asked if anyone was coming to look at it as there was damage under the bonnet ie windscreen washer bottle cracked a/c pipe. Told not to worry it would be fine. Accident happened 30/11/22. They came and collected the car 3months and 10 days later claiming availability of parts from BMW. Brought the car back a week later as per the picture. Apparently BMW has the bonnet on back order and they are waiting on other parts, Probably the parts they needed to order because they never came and looked/inspected. So not going great atm.
