Has anyone used these guys?
Not used them myself for anything but spoke to them a couple of times about things they sell. They seem straight enough and do some quality stuff (at a price).
Have you seen some of the youtube videos? particularly the white S54 M3 recreation?
There have been a couple of negative comments floating around, but you will always get that and I think it has come from people who have not got much of an idea how much time, effort and money restoring a car can be and the fact things don't always go to plan no matter how good you are.
What are you looking to get them to do?
Thanks for the reply.
I wanted them to put my E46 Alpina B3S engine my Alpina C2 and they seem very knowledgeable and capable of doing a good job on it but I've been put off by them asking for payment in full up front for the subframe and other parts that they fabricate even though they won't even have them ready for 3 months. A deposit would be fine but being chased for details for an invoice and then payment has set alarm bells ringing a bit. I really wanted DanThe to do it for me but I've spoken to him and I know he's too busy to take on another project.
I am probably capable of doing it myself but as it will be quite an expensive build on quite a valuable car I would like a professional finish really. I know BMP are expensive and I don't mind paying if the standard matches the cost but paying for parts that they don't have up front is not what I expected.

Your car your choice and all that but you do realise you will be destroying the value of the C2? what is wrong with the engine of the C2? I would never put a plastic engine in my C1 no matter who it was made by, doesn't sound or look right.bryn_p wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 10:16 amThanks for the reply.

As I said above I think they have had issues with people getting out of shape with the costs of a restoration and refusing to pay. Same in a lot of places. I can't blame BMP really, many peole read what people say on the likes of FaceAche and think it is reality for what it takes to get a decent job.
Have you sent JungleGus a PM? he did something similar and I am sure will give you some pointers, he seemed to thik it was more trouble than it was worth dealing with the Alpina vs a standard M52
Have you looked at BMR? There will be a wait there too but quality of the job is will not be in question and he has dealt with JungleGus's car
Was 100% my preferred guy to do the work as mentioned in my post aboveAndyboy wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 12:48 pmAccept no substitute:

DanThe here on the Zone.
It's a C2 2.5 so not the most exciting model, engine messed with and needs rebuilding, original Alpina driver's seat missing, suspension and brakes already non standard so it's not like I'm ruining a nice example. It's not about value for me anyway, it's about creating a car that I want. I have a totally original Buchloe built C2 2.7 cab anyway (and some other E30s beside thatflybynite wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 11:44 amYour car your choice and all that but you do realise you will be destroying the value of the C2? what is wrong with the engine of the C2? The Alpina engine in the E46 is one of my favourite engines so what better place to put it than in one of my favourite cars. It can't be that bad an idea as DanThe is doing the same thing himself
OK if it's a C2 2.5 bolt-ons special then I'll give you a bit of slackbryn_p wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 1:39 pmIt's a C2 2.5 so not the most exciting model, engine messed with and needs rebuilding, original Alpina driver's seat missing, suspension and brakes already non standard so it's not like I'm ruining a nice example. Don't be fooled, Dan would put a plastic engine in a mint E9 if he could, I'm sure he was one of the original CR24V cuprits too

You will pay well over the odds if you take your car to bmp, and you will be waiting a hell of a lot longer anyway, ask on the facebook group im sure their previous victims/customers will come forward, ive heard plenty of stories either way
Can you fit it in Dan if I wait?
You would be my preference to do the job by far
I would wait...................................nothing else to add there
Mart.
Only the E46 cab left now.
Just got too old.
