Very original E30 325iT coming up for sale
Moderator: martauto
My much loved 325i Touring is going to be moved on and it's going to crease my soul because there is nothing elso out there like it, but it's getting to a time where it really needs someone who can properly treat it as a collector's car. I have had the car since 2006 and done my best to maintain it in original condition and want it to go to someone who will value it on that basis. There seem to be all too few of this type kept in original condition. It has the original fitted Recaro front bucket seats with an M-Tech gear change and M-Tech 1 steering wheel. The gear-change and hand-brake gaiters are a matching pair in leather with discreet red and blue stitching. The handbrake has a leather grip. Other features are BBS split-rim proper alloy wheels in the wider 205/55/15 spec - also the large hex wheel cover spanner. FaceLift side trims with the especial and extremely rare facelift front mudguards (I waited several years to get those). Original BMW branded rear mudguards are also fitted. There is a specially made two part marine tonneau material full luggage area (i.e. including when the seats are down) cover protecting the floor area. A dog guard is incorporated in the luggage roller-blind screen with metal (not the normal plastic) location points.
The roof mounting points for the dog-guard are available but, not currently fitted.
A full set of E30 branded rubber mats in new condition.
The twin downlight sport rear view mirror.
Has the original fully functioning (illumination bulb needs replacing) On Board Computer with External Temperature Sensor in the n/s front brake air duct , together with left steering wheel stalk control.
The headlamp pneumatic height control (for towing) still works.
Engine is very sweet. No obvious oil consumption and little or no tappet noise. Has always been properly warmed up before using any performance, thereby keeping wear to a minimum.
Mileage is 218,000
It has 12 months MOT from 30th October.
Two new front tyres
Body work is essentially sound but paint work is starting to look tired.
Any found internal (or out of view) rust areas have been treated with Waxoil or underseal, as appropriate.
Original tool kit/jack/wheel stop & original unused First Aid Kit
OTHER PARTS AVAILABLE: (which might go with the car or, sold separately)
Heated wing mirrors with wiring looms
Heated windscreen washer jets with wiring looms
Head cover gasket
Head gasket
Sump gasket
Two compartmented boxes of assorted spare trim retainers, instrument panel bulbs, screws and the like.
REPLACEMENT PARTS AVAILABLE:
Sunroof: Left and right drive cables (the current one is distorted). Sunroof motor was fine when last used.
Headlamp wiper motors with the extremely difficult to get hold of new rubber weather seals.
AT THIS TIME THE PLAN IS TO MOVE IT ON IN THE SPRING BUT, IF THE RIGHT OFFER COMES IN BEFORE THEN I MAY MOVE IT ON EARLIER. So am putting the information out there to gauge the level of interest.
For those who might be interested please pm me in the first instance.
Sorry but the system only seems to allow 5 files. There are more of the outside, inside and engine compartment.
Also can't see how to remove the duplicate posting.

It has its original a 'semi-sport' specification with Recaro front bucket seats with an M-Tech gear change and M-Tech 1 steering wheel. The gear-change and hand-brake gaiters are a matching pair in black leather with discreet red and blue stitching. The handbrake has a leather grip. Other features are BBS split-rim proper alloy wheels in the wider 205/55/15 spec - also the large hex wheel cover spanner. Body work is mainly sound but paint work is starting to look tired. Wheel arches are always washed to avoid poltices of muck holding there and causing corrosion. Colour is blue with double silver coaching lines.
Any found internal (or out of view) rust areas have been treated with Waxoil or underseal, as appropriate.
Original tool kit/jack/wheel stop & original unused First Aid Kit
Tow bar with fully functioning electrics.
Fully functional 'original' Pioneer KE-3060 Radio/Cassette.

Thanks, Mart. Will do.
Regarding price. It's a bit of an unknown quantity to me so am waiting to see what people come up with. I need to get a sense of a going price. I do know that once sold it would be more than a difficult job to find a good one with these features which hasn't been messed about with, i.e. dropped suspension, flash mag wheels, tinted glass etc.

Thanks, Mart. I don't quite understand why it would be, '..unfair on other guys..' . Given I am not really planning to sell the car until the Spring it nevertheless is obviously sensible to try and establish what the market value might be. This has to be a very rare vehicle now, particularly since it has been maintained in original condition and it has some special features/parts which are either going to be very expensive (aka the BBS alloy wheels) or extremely difficult to come by (as in the front 'Facelift' mudguards particularly). I have had one guide suggestion from a company which is both familiar with the car and also experienced in renovating E30s and the like of around £6-7000. As above, whilst not planning to sell until the spring should an offer comes up in the meantime which I can not resist then I may let it go beforehand. Will take some current pictures today and put them up.

Thank you for the suggestion. It is not officially up for sale , ideally that will be in the Spring, but I need to get a sense of what it might be worth and the extent of interest. As already stated, am in no rush to sell but, if in the meantime someone does come up with an offer I can't refuse then I may let it go earlier than planned.

What it's worth adverts are not allowed on here that's why you need to put a price and not an excuse of why you haven't.
The selling rules have been in place since the beginning . No one is exempt.

I have said this right from the start of the post and Mick is very correct in what he is saying.
Please put a price on this or it will be moved to a more meaningful area or it will be locked.
Like I have said before, please abide by the rules

I am sorry but I don't see what the issue is, or should be. What is the harm, and why should it contravene any rules, to indicate that a vehicle will be coming up for sale so that one can get a feel of the level of interest and also what the going price might be? Why can one not just put it about generally that that is, as it were, a coming event? However, if in the meantime, anyone expresses sufficient interest (and should preferably come to see the vehicle) and comes up with an offer I can't refuse then I may well go for it before the planned time for its sale, i.e. the Spring. What is wrong with that and why should things be so black or white?
By all means, if you are not happy that there should be advance information that a vehicle will be coming up for sale and that this is done in a way which is not decitful or potentially fraudlent, then do remove it. The car is being promoted at a number of other locations.

Thanks, Be30, for that helpful information. I have a spare boot carpet cover, also made of marine tonneau quality material, of which I can post pictures to you.

Based on the responses from this and other locations I am trying to decide whether to offer the car as is and sell the extras separately or, or with the special extras, such as the heated wing mirrors and looms and also the heated windscreen washers with looms.

bryski, I feel you are taking an extreme and very black or white point of view. The point of this thread was made quite clear at the beginning. It is to inform that the car will be coming up for sale, to gauge the level of interest and to get an idea of what the market value might be. What is wrong with that and why should it be a waste of time?

I would just add that I don't spend time on forums unless there is a need to, so I am not in tune with the trends. Yes, the vehicle can be for sale with all the bits but, from the response here and on other locations, plus one person who has come from West Yorkshire to see the car, I am wondering if it might be best just to offer the car as is and sell the parts separately. I thought forums, such as this, were principally for those who might want help or information in some way and that most on it might also in that frame of mind.

Hi,
What's the asking price for the car (without the other parts available)?

I am getting indications of anywhere between £5000 and £7000. It obviously depends on who wants it and how much they want it, for example if it went to auction. More pictures are going to be uploaded to Google Drive showing areas which commonly rust but which are not on this vehicle, plus the identification on the alloy split rims which shows that they are genuine. The split rims on their own new would probably be around £4-5k.

All irrelevant as anything is worth what someone is willing to pay, not what the seller wants.
You will see things, cars included, offered at silly prices, A 1966 Lambretta SX200 for 14K does not mean he will get it, 10K probably.
My totally rust free 320 as below i would be 7K
