Hi guys had problem after
Problems being diagnosed with my e30 cab.

Finally got the car engine sorted and running beautifully and i washed the car and the driver footwell is soaked. I ran water only on the windscreen and it seems to go inside the wiper grill. I removed the grill and its all clean inside. As i put water down the windscreen i can see the water trickling just above the accelerator pedal. Any idea where this leak could be from? Ive looked through it and cant see any holes etc

Any information will be useful

Thanks
Yaad

Could be drain holes in the scuttle panel that run down the rear of the front wing being blocked.

Hi pal

I hate to worry you but it sounds like to me there could be a risk of rust on the scuttle drain. There is a circular hole in the firewall where water is supposed to drain through. This often gets clogged up with dirt and moisture and so rusts and then allows water to flow inside the cabin.

At the engine bay take the firewall plate and insulation off so the blower motor and turbines are visable. The hole should be visable there in the left hand corner. Clean it up and inspect of any holes. Remember even a pin hole will allow water to dribble in.

And report back what you see, some photos even so we can see what we're working with.

Hi

I just checked it removing the cover under the steering. When i pour water into the wiper grill, when the water drains to the right of the car towards the wing then it pours through.

The picture below shows where the water is coning in from. The
Picture is from below and ive tried putting sealant but nothing.

Cheers

I have no elephant trunk, i can see the hole where it connect but the trunk seems missing. The water only comes when i water enter the drive side wiper grill and runs into it

I'm still convinced you have some rust there under that sealant. Some part of the inner firewall behind the scuttle may be rusted through. This side of the firewall is a lot thinner so rusts quickly once corrosion appears.

I'd suggest getting in there with a wire brush, or a small buffing dremmel to clear off all sealant, paint etc.

If you still can't see anything recover the area in etch primer. And maybe some clear waxoyl. But not before you give us some more photos to try and help you out.

That's my advice. Water getting in means you have a break in the metal somewhere.

Ill give it a good clean and take some pics. Is the fire wall on the left towards the middle
Of the engine? Cos it feels the water is coming from the right when inside the car
