Hi,
I am looking to do a bare metal respray on my E30 in the original 'Diamantschwarz Metallic'.
Can anyone suggest recommendations/ how much should it cost? (Excluding any rust repair)
Thanks,

Prices will vary wildly depending on how much perfection you are looking for.
I am not in the trade at all but have paid retail a few times, here's my guess, assuming you are planning a quality job...
London and Home Counties: £6k plus (with normal repairs only)
Away from there: Could be half of that and upwards.
Have you found the right place and had quotes yet?
(I am interested as thinking about doing the same - same colour too - but haven't found the right people)
Good luck

For outside only I was quoted in Bristol for 2.5k. That was a decent Bodyshop with good ratings

Not sure what Outside Only means?
In the past, I have saved money by not doing engine compartment and so on, thinking they looked pretty good.
They did until the rest of the car had new paint...!
It's hard to know where to draw the line really - doing the engine bay can mean lost decals - so worth getting new ones before you start. Removing and refitting the VIN plate can inadvertently make it look dodgy. I particularly don't like VIN stampings that are filled with new paint, so that's tricky. And other things.
Then again, if the engine and all the other bits are out, (and access to what's left is so much better) it's a good opportunity to refresh those as well, assuming money's no object!
Whatever your choices, good luck and rest assured your car is already in the very best colour!!

Munich tend to use Impact Bodywork, I think their work is ok but they come across as quite disinterested on the couple of times I have used them. Don't know if it is down to the fact that they don't get exited over E30s now they tend to do 911's.
Edit: If your car is at Munich Legends I would drop into BMR and see if Barry would take it on, although he does send stuff to Impact as well.
