My ”˜89 320i convertible currently has 5 different makes of tyre, all of them very basic and agricultural. My local tyre place said 195 x 65 with 14”a rims were becoming difficult to obtain and he suggested I fit ”˜enduros’ @ £60 a corner or get bigger wheels. I happened to see an immaculate 320i conv in a supermarket car park and that had Firestone Firehawks and I rather liked the look of those so I checked them out on the ”˜net. Apparently they’re not recommended for going round corners, wet or dry! If I keep the 14”a bottletops, what’s a good tyre-choice? Given the outer wheel diameter should stay the same as now, 195 x 65 looks real skinny. The E30zone wiki is helpful with what was available as options, do I change to bigger wheels? Change the hubs for 5 bolts?

I have 195 65 on my Baur on bottle tops and they are good, I think they cost more than I paid for on the e46 330 sport (asda budget) @ £65 per corner but are good tyres.

Mart.
Only the E46 cab left now.
Just got too old.

I have Firestone Firehawks TZ200's on 14" BBS's (195 65 R14).

Grip is excellent in wet and dry. Overall steering feel is good.

Ride comfort is good and road noise is non existent.

I would definitely recommend them, contrary to your online searching.

I had a set of Uniroyal Rainsport 3 on my 14 inch BBS.

Were decent.

I just bought uniroyals for my 92 cabby and they seem good to me at £ 60.00 a corner fitted and balanced, U.K. Tyers
