Doing it on the road is dodgy, you'll end up bending it unless you are good, and even then you can very easily make mistakes.
Going round a roundabout sideways all the way is a good start, it gets more difficult from there!
T-junction drifting -> Roundabout Drifting -> Corner Drifting etc etc
Try to go to an organised drift event, where you won't bend your car, yourself, or your licence!

defo be careful, i leave it till late at nite,, and i agree we should organise a drift event, as it can be dangerous,, i either do a lap normally so i know whats comien down each road... or i get my mates to look out for me,
well if the conditions are right, then every bend i can (that i think is safe) i try to sideways it. if there are pedestrians of any tipe, or motorbikes near then i dont bother.
plus since i dont have an lsd i dont do it in the dry cos it just dont go! in the wet tho i can snake it up the road.
burgh heath asda car park is really good. there must be a mixture of diesel on the floor. plus less friction on the ground means less tyre wear lol
round by ikea in croydon is also a good spot i found. at night time, 11pm onwards, hardly anyone goes down there.
i had been looking for a course or a track day thing that would teach me how to drift properly. but no luck. i would have to use their car as i wouldnt want to tear mine about like that.
plus i see on the tv that they use handbrake, and i never do that. i just put my foot down a bit in 2nd and it goes.
anyone going to that crappy cruise in ikea tonite?
i most probably will. but not for the cruise..
say hi if anyone sees me.

nah mate, ive never been, a few of my mates go, though they got ford Ka, pug 306, and afew other cars, its not the best of meets ive heard, only good if you know a fair few people there which i do, but there not exactly my kinda cars i must say.
ikea car park is where its at
they closed down the makro car park, put gates up or something
though in general valey park is good
though them stupid barriers to stop people messing about at the retail park wit added security, think ikea is now the only place left
also u wouldnt think this.... iirc,,, round the back of toys r us ;) we should meet up for a mess about session, when i get my new car lol

definatly meet up. i used to work in that toys r us a few years ago. so i try to stay away from there if i can.
going past the tram stop on the massive oval roundabout outside ikea is a bit weird. ive 180'd a couple of times giving it too much.
also coming from waddon mcdonalds going left at 5 ways junction is well slippery when wet. can propper hang it out.
did it in front of old bill once.
shit myself.

iirc it make for a nice stretch round the back, and genuinly unseen by anyone. as its hidden, ikea u get some of the latenite staff looking cos its open to 12.
also ikea undergroun carpark makes for a nice photoshoot
sorry about the quality of pic,,, though need a tripod for some nice ones.. but u get the idea... two e30s would be background/screensaver/

well i need to get mine into the body shop as i was seein some psyco bird and she didnt like to be told no. she got some little boy to nick me stereo, then later jump on the bonnet and roof and kick the door and wing in, jump on the spoiler and boot.
but soon as its all done ill have to take some photos.
anyone know where i can get a fog light switch? when i push my front fogs, it doesnt do anything. if i push it really slowly, one comes on, then if i keep pushing, it goes off again.
will u be popping down valley park tonite?

Icy roundabouts at 6.30 am sunday morning are great fun. I'm in Yeovil and we have a big 3 lane job that I managed to 180 on. Never managed to do a whole lap. Did a couple of good lighthouse impressions trying tho
Pretty tough when I have a 320i cab. Wish it was a little bit bigger!!! I tend to use lift off oversteer techniques rather than just power out (mainly as I don't have the power!!!).
Try to find the link to the drift bible on here. Loads of advanced techniques. Shows you that the power out technique most of us do is the beginners one. The jap guy who hosts it is amazing. I bet he gets some really good tyre sponsorshe must eat them for breakfast!!!
See it and you'll convert to the religion of drifting!!! My bird hates it too so I have to do it on the hush hush. I blame the weather conditions for "accidentally" sliding around!! Thing is, she's inadvertantly learned from the car feedback when I'm planning to drift
So have to be extra careful!!
Agreed quiet places at night are best, esp with slippy conditions so you can practice at low speed. I wouldn't dream of doing it in the dry.

im going to use the one on a217 as he did me a deal before on my fiesta.
the only reason all that was done to my car was because i said to the bird i didnt want to see her like that anymore. she cant take it, and some boy who loved her to bits done it to me motor. she even told me she would get it done. the old bill is involved anyway, so ill have to wait for that to be sorted out. im only going out tonite to see what happens, cos she keeps getting people to follow me. fook knows why!
the boy who done me car also has tried running me sis over, i dont even know them!! mad people everywhere. no - hopers.
bring yer polo down! hehe.
would love to see the drift bible! when i first got my car i used to panick when it went sideways, so id take my feet off everything and control the side back to straight.
now i find if u feather the throttle you can prolong the drift. its all about feeling the car tho. you get some sort of sense where the corners of the car are in the end, what it can and cant do etc.
ive been told by my uncle (who is a mecanic) that ripping up the handbrake on the bm's is not a good idea, because they are shoe handbrakes inside the disks, and apparently they arnt really strong enough to do that.

i just bought a 318i to learn to drift in only drove it on the way home and got a few tweeks of the back end, hopefully get to some practice days as soon as i get some spare cash. (Its bonus month this month too
)
there seems to be quite a few people now who drift in e30's and other bm's and dont give in to the JAP motors.
A e30 drift day would be great. anyone know how or where it could be done?

less than a minute away from my house is a place called Lathallan Roundabout - a big 3 lane roundabout that bridges a motorway - no-one really uses after about 11ish, its great fun on there, get a few of the locals coming round aswell - one fella in a supercharged MX-5 is the shit at it and my mate Danny, who's currently on his 3rd/4th 200SX engine is the Daddy! I decided to go round it when I was pissed off during the day once... on an underinflated tyre - they tyre came off the rim and i ended up in the barrier very close to falling onto the main motorway connecting Edinburgh and Glasgow!!! Oops!

hmm trying to think of anything like that around here,,, dont think we can sacrifice the space
oh well.
you have to be going quite quick to hang it out so the weight forces it round. i was doing it all last nite and now my diff is starting to clonk haha
i got an LSD waiting to go in tho so i couldnt care less.
another thing is 2 things seem to happen to me in the dry:
1 the car snatches back violently and depending on how fast your going depends how it snatches. its not a nice feeling, especially if your not expecting it.
2 one wheel spins and u look like a chav and dont go anywhere.
in the wet it drifts effortlessly like an ice skater,
