Got a 1986 320i Coupe, it has a roof mounted on board computer, with a check button. But it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas on what could be wrong. Thanks.

Probably unplugged by some previous owner who was too lazy/thick to sort out a problem keeping one of the LEDs on.
Pull it out and see.

Or maybe the brake light warning was constantly coming on!

Haha possibly, the ABS light is on the dash. Will have a play around with it. I haven't seen a roof mounted OBC before, is it common for them

All 320i's and 325i's had Check Control as far as I'm aware.

Just popped it out and is there only supposed to be one main plug? There's 4 holes in the back which look like for bulbs but there's nothing else there.

It's powered by one multi pin plug. The empty bulb holes are for a seat-belt warning light amongst other things and were only used on U.S cars as far as I know.
