Windscreen options
Moderator: martauto
Hi,
Quick question. I have a 89 touring currently fitted with the standard clear glass. My windscreen has broken and I am offered 3 options, clear, green or green with green top tint, what would you recommend and would a green screen make the other windows look odd?
Thank you

Unless the original purchaser specially specified otherwise, your current windscreen will be tinted green.
BMW offered glass in brown tint, green tint and clear. The default option on pre facelift cars was brown, and green on post facelift.

No E30 glass was ever clear.reggid wrote:i just order green with green band, original was clear.
bronze is NLA from BMW im told
The only glass that was available from BMW was bronze tint up to sept 87 build date unless Air con or thermo insulated glass was optioned then it would have been green tint.
All cars from sept 87 build date were green tint.
A windscreen with a 'graduated' tint was only available on green tint glass and it was a green top tint.
Anything else is aftermarket.bss325i wrote:No E30 glass was ever clear.reggid wrote:i just order green with green band, original was clear.

I have a non BMW top tint green screen in my sport.
i got a screen from Magpie's ebay supplier in north Leeds,a green-tint with blue shadeband.
the maker is Fuyao, a Chinese firm that apparently was a bit iffy quality-wise in the past, but are fine now, supplying OEM glass to VAG.
