All depends on condition of the car.

Condition, mileage, history, options etc etc. I'ts impossible to value when the only information is it's a 316i.

How long is a piece of string, adverts range from from £400 to £4000

I have just bought the least desirable e30, a 316i, auto, touring, cloth interior....
but hope to restore it and trade up to a shabby 6 pot one day :D

Rust is the killer with these. It's easy enough to build one to the spec you want from a solid shell. A lot of rust can lurk hidden underneath the car/in hard to see places like the bulkhead.

The important question is how many doors and chromie or facelift?

Really? I know BMW have made a three door in their Mini range, but I've not come across an E30.
As ross says, the value is inversely proportional to the rust.

You forget the coach built 3 door tourings. 7 were made iirc.
