885 head onto 323i
Moderator: martauto
thanks tomson I was also looking at a set of extractors and it has one lamber sensor down the end of the pipe where my 1984 e30 323i auto series 1 has a lamber sensor for each outlet on the stock manifold. Why is this different? and is it possible to convert it earthier way?

Pretty sure there will be valve to piston contact if you use a 325 head on a 320/ 323 bottom end.
Going by your use of the term 'extractor' I am guessing you are in Australia ? Can't you bin off all the emissions junk on a '84 car ?

hi guys thanks that saved me some money haha,
I was reading on the wiki section about the hartge h23 and h26 which were based on the 323i. it said they had a cam extractors and a phew other things.
how would I go putting in a decant cam, extractors, long extrude manifold with BBTB throttle body with my stock auto, 323i head, internals, and the pre facelift jetstronic?

I would be more worried about the inlet valve clipping the edge of the 80mm bore. Its pretty close to the surface of the head on the 885 head.
Your car should have either a 200 or 731 head, both of which are easily available. E21 320/6 heads should also fit as they are 200 heads but may lack sensor locations and need the later type cam belt pulley fitted.
If you want to tune then upgrade to the M1.3 ECU from the M1.1 you have at the moment, the M1.3 is much more supported when it comes to tuning, this means a facelift loom and ECU, plus a few sensors more around.
Other than that your cam, manifold etc are all the same techniques as any other M20.

I am planning on getting a 325e eta motor and auto off my mate then turn it into a super eta, upping the compression and putting a 885 head that's had about 10hrs of porting and polishing then putting in a cam, then I will swap the extrude intake & BBTB throttle body and extactors of the 323i making that the stock original motor and auto. im sort of inspired by the hartge. who knows maybe I might make it a h35 34 inspired!!!!!!
