The aftermarket stuff is just junk in comparison.

I checked today if the rear silencer was uk stock or Germany as if it's uk then I can order it in to my dealer and not buy it and they send it back. If it was a Germany order then it's not going back. I was told they had one left in the uk.

Purpose of this? To check who the manufacturer is by what's stamped into the part.
Would you mind taking and posting some photos when you can, so we can all see what we'd get for our money.
Thanks
Yes i will try and sort it this week.
Unfortunately I can't do this as there is only one rear silencer left in the uk and if a part goes on back order (what happens when the last one in the uk is sold) then it becomes non returnable and I don't want to be stuck with a rear silencer I don't need.

Well thanks for trying.

Got to say I can't believe this. What kind of company is BMW, allowing their stock to get down to one back box in the whole country? Fuching unbelievable.
Perhaps at £262.50 each they didn't think they'd sell many.....not selling any now!

BMW gave themselves up to the accountants a long time ago, I was only talking to a couple of mates yesterday about how useless the local dealer parts dept has become, they are so worried about making mistakes with orders they would rather not order anything. "We need a chassis number for that" mentality, they are doing themselves out of a lot of trade.

Yep I've had a nightmare the last few orders I've put in. Ordering a scuttle turned into a real ordeal. They wanted a log book, proof of address and photographic ID and when the bastard thing arrived it didn't even have a chassis number stamped in it.

Part supply can be just as bad for newer bmws with some parts going world wild back order and being months till available again.

Yep, z3m coupe o/s parcel shelf side cover trims have been on worldwide backorder for around 9 months! But then that is unique to that vehicle.

Bmw parts supply for old models is generally pretty good I would say.

Half the stuff for 205 gti's for example is NLA. They just can't be arsed, or there is no business sense in them making those parts (more likely).

Agreed, on the whole parts supply for older BMW parts is very good especially compared to other manufacturers and if there is demand then BMW will even remake or have remade parts that have gone NLA for example so E30 M3 parts that have long been NLA are now available new but sometimes for much more than when they were last available but not always.

That will be down to lower volume production runs.

Try buying genuine parts for an 80's Ford!

Due to Walkers OE experience (more than 80% of the total production is OE) Walker is able to use the latest technology available for the production of the After Market line ensuring the highest levels of quality and technology in all our designs. This technology ensures that all Walker products are designed with the right back-pressure and noise levels, being equal to those present at the Original Equipment units.
In order to certify this quality standards Walker AM exhaust offer (exhaust and catalytic converters) is fully homologated following all the requirements of the most strict government environmental laws.

With Walker® homologated exhaust systems the engine will always maintain its maximum performance level with the minimum consumption. Wrong back-pressure levels present in all of non-homologated exhausts also causes small losses of petrol and oxygen in each intake stroke, producing consequently losses of power and increase of consumption of the vehicle.

Walker® products also protect the job of the installers ensuring the legality of the exhaust parts installed in the vehicle. The use of non-homologated exhaust systems is prohibited and illegal in most of the countries of the European community and the installation of them is penalized by the local authorities.

Walker® exhaust produces all the AM exhaust with a double layer of aluminized steel, being the homologated competitors AM offer only a single layer of aluminized steel. This allows Walker to give a superior warranty period and ensure the end users a longer life time period of the product compared to any of our actual competitors in the aftermarket.

Last but not least, the fact that Walker® is present worldwide at OE and AM platforms gives a competitive advantage in terms of coverage, new developments and market knowledge that is always beneficial to our AM distribution channel.
Lord,

they are on the 3 year ticket just like any other car maker these days.

Acid test: email them to confirm their E30 exhausts will last for 20 years just like the originals.....

Thing is, at £1218 each it's a wealthy and principled man who'd be buying one, when two (2) scorpion stainless full systems can be had for the same price.
