Hello Guys after owning many bmw 325i sports many years ago I recently caught the bug again.I have allways liked the alpina c2.7 but due to the ever so rising prices on the bmw e30s. I dont know if anyone can help i have a few questions before i start my search for a 2.7 Firstly How many alpina c2.7 were made what is the most desirable colour And model to have eg based on a se a i or a sport. I Do like the coupes so what is the price range for a c2.7 based on a facelift SPORT in black white or red with decent history keepers and body work. If anyone knows of any cars that might be for sale please let me know Cont belive the zone still here :D

The most desirable model is the one that doesn't have any rust :P

Read the wiki on here, there's lots of info to get you started. I can personally testify they are not any different when it comes to the dreaded rot. I'm restoring my c2.5 and the bodywork man is on 60 hours with probably 10 to do, and mine is a relatively low miler.

I think the c2’s are about to go daft when the world runs out of m3s.

The problem with E30 Alpina's is that there was not a huge number made so you can not be fussy when it comes to colour or base car spec. Even restricting yourself to one body style is narrowing your choice.

Prices seem to start around the mid teens for something half decent rising to low 20's for nice cars.

Sytner Nottingham, the BMW dealer that built the RHD UK sold E30 Alpinas recently restored a tech 2 based Lachs silver C2 2.7 and then sold it for around £35k.

Thank You everyone i have sent a request to join the alpina owners club still waiting on a reply. It seems 15 years ago even to today the alpina are still rare as hens teeth.Dam i wish i brought one back then would of saved a hell lot of money.Ideally i would Like a 2.7 coupe and face-lift But as bss325i has said i cont really be picky reasons behind wanting a sport based e30 is manly i hate the cream headliner most non sport cars have fitted and would of liked a black headliner. For prices to say Would Saying a Budget of £16,000 Get me a c2.7 alpina based on a 325i sport Reasons i ask truly i have been off the e30 market for quite some time.I do agree with You topblag i need to buy one ASAP  Being such a rare car compaired to the legacy of the start of the m3 SOME ONE SOME WHERE MUST HAVE OR KNOW OF ONE FOR SALE HELP!!!

I have seen the odd one here and there and all been 20K plus.
They say there good but like the ones above I'd be wary about them.

Autos can easily be converted to manual and headlining scan be replaced.

I have done both many times.

Anything you do to it other than a decent restoration with genuine parts will effect the price negatively.

I think a lot of Pina's were auto's, although I may be wrong.

Yes a lot were auto but to be honest, it would certainly effect the value of one which was original and low mileage but not so much one which was high mileage/restored/already played about with and most C2's fall into these catagories.

I can think of 4 C2 2.7's of which two of them are arguably among the best in the UK and they have had their original spec changed and improved which would not effect the market value if ever sold.

As with any car, you need to assess it on a case by case basis.

Mr classic Heros aka Barney ex Munich Legends.

I sold the owner of the touring a set of staggered Alpinas back in 2008.

The 2dr has been for sale on and off for a LONG time.

I might be mistaken, but I think the original owners of ML were the guys that put it about the M3 timing chain needed replacing every 80k. Something like that, but this misinformation seems to have become gospel.... :)

at 100,000 kilometers, they advised a timing belt change costing loads, not doing it would mean your M3 would explode at any second......no one falls for that anymore, but it must have made them a packet.

you would do alot worse than buy one of the two classic hero's have forsale i'd say.

The touring is owned by an old chap who spends most of his time in Thailand iirc and the touring is only used sparingly in the summer months here the rest in proper storage. I met him at Gaydon along time ago.

Still E30's though so its eyes mega wide open when viewing

Not really. The 4HP22 is a dreadful old slushbox by modern standards and a properly executed conversion that looks 'factory' would, if anything, make the car more saleable.
The problem with the C2 is that they aren't hugely better than a good 325i Sport - I've never driven one that I thought was that great. You can do a lot better for 20 grand - it's only a perked up 325i at the end of the day.

i've owned driven enough 325's and C2's to know the C2 is a way better for mun car to own drive. A good C2 is faster in every gear in any situation over a 325i and it has the large amounts of extra torque in all the right places in the rev range than make 325's seem just well flat.

An E30 M3 is a completely different car to a 325i or C2 2.7.

Plus the c2 doesn't look much different from a regular 325i. Would we care as much about the m3 if it didn't have those box arches etc. Same goes for the Escort Cosworth, would they command 20k plus price tag if they looked similar to £200 pounds worth of an L reg Ghia?
