Alpina B6 replica
Moderator: martauto
Having recently sold my E46 M3 vert I've been reliving my E30 dream again. Potentially looking for very interesting E30 manual vert in very good condition (don't need another money pit).
I just came across this one which definitely looks interesting:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-335i-Conv ... 2ca0092112
Seems to fit the bill perfectly. I've had real Alpina's before, and usually have a rule against replicas, but I know I'll never get a real B6.
Does anyone know it? Anything look obviously wrong/suspicious with it?

Hm something strange here. Just called the number and some very abrupt trader guy quickly got upset when I asked about the history. "everything is in the ad" and offered nothing else despite the ad saying he's owned it 12 years, but says this is from the previous owner.
Then he accused me of calling on behalf of Glynn or Klynn and became more hostile. I said I'd never heard of this guy, and he said it was the previous owner. Sounds like something going on between them. Not sure why the previous 12-year owner would want to get someone else to phone him and ask about the history and where he got the car from. "it's no one's business where I got the car from".
Then he said if I don't have specific questions, then obviously I don't know what I'm talking about, and to call back if I think of a specific question not in the ad, because he's not bothered if he sells the car or not.
Quite possibly the strangest sales technique I've ever heard, and everything is screaming there's something not right here.

Ring him back and if he starts again, tell him you were actually seriously interested in viewing and possibly buying the car. Then add "seeing that you are such a rude c unt, you can stick it up your arse!".
Sounds like a right w4nker!

Thanks but couldn't find it, but seems older threads are deleted because they don't go past 26 July. If it's been advertised over the nice summer weather and hasn't shifted, again it's a warning sign. For a car modded this much, I'd really want to speak to the person that did the work and owned for 12 years, not some hostile trader-type who laid into me then hung up after I'd barely said 20 words! Never experienced anything like it before.rh306 wrote:There's a thread on this car already, it's a good 'un apparently. I think it was in the E30 Related external ads section?
Maybe he recently bought it to flip, and is now having issues selling it on for some reason. Definitely sounds like he's had a falling out with the previous owner. Needless to say, that's not how to treat potential buyers especially when asking decent money.
I had my list of questions, but never got past the standard first question "tell me about the history of the car". That's about all I said before I had to defend myself. Obviously hit a nerve for some reason related to him acquiring the car, but it wasn't right from the moment he answered the phone in a very abrupt manner. I can't imagine him getting much business as a salesman.B7 wrote:Ring him back and if he starts again, tell him you were actually seriously interested in viewing and possibly buying the car. I won't be phoning him back, that's for sure.
This car was for sale for a few months and at a lesser price, the chap who had it was from a different location, although within the Hertfordshire area, he was willing to take £6,000. It would seem that some trader type has acquired the vehicle and upped the price a great deal, I certainly do not think he is the owner on the log book of the car.
Thanks for the info. Shame I didn't see it before the trader acquired it, although £6k seems cheap if it's in as good condition as it looks in the ad and all that work, wonder why it didn't sell first time? Maybe E30 buyers are put off with that level of replica mods? Do only originals find decent money £6+?
No chance I'm buying anything off that guy. But very odd that he doesn't seem interested in selling it and his crappy attitude. Definitely something not right.

As a rule, I avoid any advert with "SWAP", "WHY".
His behaviour is probably something to do with the above, he's invited trouble.

That's a 'Neon Design Motorsport Cabriolet',to give the thing it's full name.It would have left the factory with a 1.8 M40 4 cylinder engine and a cloth interior in 'motorsport' style, that's where the blue piping idea has come from.
Now it all depends on one's personal viewpoint as to what modified cars are worth, but only genuine, tuner built E30's currently command five figure values.....
As a tidy,original Neon,perhaps £3k ish is about right.

Thanks for the insights. Now it starts to come together. Looks like someone has invested huge time and money taking the car to it's current spec, and a lot of care and attention too looking at the photos. The bespoke stitching on the extended leather is very good and the engine looks very tidy.
But good to know it's completely overvalued. Yet another reason to step away, although a 3.5 engine in an E30 vert with upgraded suspension did sound very nice indeed
Just wonder if that added weight up front is properly balanced elsewhere. Not something for amateurs I assume, and this guy obviously knows sod all about it.

I see this car at one of the monthly Ace cafe nights & it was a well executed conversion and a tidy car, i spoke with the chap that owned it then & he was more than happy to chat about everything he had done to it, i'm sure Pacerpete had supplied some parts or expertise somewhere along the conversion, i'm partial to a modded turd and that ones not exactly my cup of tea, but a decent turd never the less!
I'm proberly wrong but isn't it meant to look like this

Born on the 23 April 1990 320i Alpinweiss ll kabriolett! (SOLD BUT NOT FORGOTTEN !)
The B6 3.5S was based on the M3 (and impossible to find, I spent a couple of years looking in a past life). The "regular" B6's were based on the regular hard-top models, and also hard to find. Probably all over-priced now too.
Great article with photos/stats of all the different E30 tuner versions: http://www.rtsauto.com/different-bmw-e3 ... schnitzer/
No B6's were cabs. So not a true replica for sure.

Add anything for sale in Luton to that list too, much like this car is! Never usually a good omenbab-91 wrote:As a rule, I avoid any advert with "SWAP", "WHY".

Just a note here, the difference in the paint finish on the rear left seems to indicate it has had paint.
Paint that has not been fully mopped out at that.

The bootlid spoiler ruins the whole car for me.

Yes. Several Sytner built C2 cars were based on 325i sports, M-tech 1 and 2.S38B38 wrote:Was any oem E30 ALPINA offered with M-Tech II ?
