e30 4 door
Moderator: martauto
Howya lads,
I have been on this forum a while, looking and gathering info, I have a e30 track based car already, Love it to bits tho i dont get to use it to much due to working away a lot,I have just purchased another e30 and i am going to have this one for the road, I need a load of questions answered properly ,
Right here we go!
1. The car i have is a left hand drive 4 door on french plates
2. will this be a hassle to register here(i'm from northern ireland)
3. I will be converting it to right hand drive also so what are the problem area's involved in this.
4. Would it be better to buy another 4 door and just slowly swap the loom's etc ?
5. My other yoke is a 4.0 l v8 with a 5 speed box, thinking this time a 4.4l with a six speed for a bit of better mpg.

E30 was originaly built and designed as LHD,then converted by the factory for RHD markets.(UK,ROI,SA and Ausrailia to name 4)
Main difference is that bulkhead on the passenger side is a slightly different shape, just enough to make fitting a glovebox difficult.I did convert a LHD touring some years ago with reasonable successs, but it's no five minute task.
Carpet
Dash
Centre console
Mirrors
Pedal box
Steering rack
Brake linkage
Clutch fluid holder
Wiring harness is also different in the area of the A pillar plugs, but the front door harness's can be swapped side to side.
Up to you to decide if it's worth the work....on a more door...
Regestering an ex-French turd in the UK is just plain expensive;
MoT on the existing plate/VIN
Insurance on the same(read expensive,I think I had to pay Adrian Flux more than £600 as no-one else would cover it and they would not accept my NCB)
VIC will be required, not sure how this will be done now local DVLA offices have been closed.
£200 first registration fee applies,to obtain an 'age-related' plate.
