If you do go for the 928 I recommend the auto. I had a manual and the syncro's were trashed which destroyed the enjoyment of what really was an epic car. ( s2 4.7 v8 ). Aparently the syncro issue is common on these.

Ha yes Pete but they are sooo cheap compared to say a 964 and I think cooler. Don't think the later ones rot??? If it all goes pear shaped I wonder if they break well...

Oh and yes auto, I don't know of any other model where the manual/auto value difference is so big, almost double. Suppose the E34 540i is similar

If you get a Porsche 928 go for the Porsche 928 GTS Coupe with Porsche Manual Gearbox.
Collectors item.

Why do state the brand before the component?
It's not going to have a toyota gearbox is it?

Our assistant manager at work has just bought a manual 928, he got rid of his auto for it. He loves them, but then he is a bit sad.
Can't see the fascination myself.
A 964 turbo is a proper Porsche

944s are sad, period. At least for the 15 mins of the year when it works and there are no ominous noises / smells / warning lights , a 928 is a pleasant interesting turd

Green 928 went past my office this afternoon. Looked very nice and pampered.

Well a 2 hour drive to see my first one, a supposedly nice low miles S4, was abortive:
Overspray on every rubber seal/grommet. Every one.
Barely a light without a crack/hole
Kickdown MIA
Rattley top end at idle
tempremental electric windows
wilted door cards
A quite exciting pull to the left, accentuated by braking.
Are these going to be more hassle than I bargained for???
On the plus side the noise is sexual, and the car felt very planted. If I can find a good 'un I'll bite.

And a black RS1600i as well as various Escorts, Metros and Sierras on the pitch.

Indeed they did but the point is, Pony always stated brand for component ie,
BMW E46 M3 with BMW manual gearbox and BMW M differential etc etc.

Now, a proper Yuppie wouldn't have mentioned such common-or-garden tosh, lest it lower their Binatone!
