Need some help lads to identify this mysterious engine.
Right the head has the following numbers
1705885 2.5/2.7

The bottom end has the following numbers
28c89
1289575
25 6k 1
23016837
sweep
Married to the E30 Zone
Married to the E30 Zone

What cars it out of ? Year etc as I've tried to connect a late loom to injectors and it's not the same. A spec on engine would be good :-)

Its a low comp 8.8:1 cat prepped M20B25 engine from a post '88 car.

As others have decoded, the key part is the "25 6k 1" part.

This means 2.5 litre, 6-cylinder, designed for Katalyser (meaning low-compression).

The number that follows that is the build number for that engine.

Late M20 loom should fit.
The 2.7 stamp appeared on the head casting, along with 2.5 after the introduction of the US Super eta E30.

Design the engine had a part loom on it but cut, the injectors ain't straight plus it was a wire loom that was on then unlike the later loom which has the caseing on it
