You could try a check with the chassis number at your local BMW dealer.

A proper Alpina should have a dashboard plaque, and various other identifying features such as an Alpina sticker on the ECU.

The poster who was trying to nick it off the widow last week reckoned he was going to put it up for 10k + :)

PS Does not look particularly 'Alpina' to me . Just a quattroporte with a Tech 1 kit and a £25 (incorrectly placed) boot badge. Looks like a tasty breaker though :D

First time I've seen Tech 1 sideskirts on a moredoor.

It's giving me the horn though, chromie moredoors have that effect on me.

Whatever, with the early high compression M20B25, it should go pretty well...

if it's an Alpina, think it'll be a C2.5, they go very well compared to a standard 325i.

Too early for a C2.5 or an alpina sport pack.

IF it is a genuine alpina then it will be a C1 2.5 or a C2 2.7 for that year.

+1

With only 1owner from new and the Alpina badge in the wrong place and no Alpina front valence, do not think Alpina would have let it leave the factory like that

Agree on the badge point.

What's confusing me are the stripes - could you buy them and fit them at new if it wasn't an Alpina car and also, would they last for 27 years (if not, they would've been added at some point) ?

As it's red and not pink, it's either been garaged most of it's life or it's been re-painted at some point. Finally, if the old dear is 80, and her departed husband was of a similar age, can you see a 50 year old + man adding Alpina stripes to a car which isn't a genuine Alpina ? I think not.

I'm not clued up on the Alpina and going by the pics my first thoughts were its not but after speaking to the owner who is very genuine and she says thats exactly how it came from the factory...bit confusing as to why the stickers and the wrong placed badge would have been added by BMW!

Certainly doing the rounds this car is.

2k????
Just read the thread. It sounds like the car the other guy was looking to exploit, but it obviously hasn't gone.

Always strikes me as odd when a car's previous owner is described as fastidious, but the engine bay looks awful.

Bang goes everyone's hopes of bagging a bargain for a few hundred quid! :chuckle:

IF it's as solid and original as it sounds it has to be worth at least 2k even with the extra doors and ignoring any Alpina nonsense.
