Hello all,
I thought I saw a post here years ago showing how to update the look of the ignition key and fit it to one of the flick type key fobs.
I have searched but can't seem to find it again, can someone point me in the right direction please.
Cheers
Modern looking key, help please

Thanks,
Not really what I am after. The post I saw was from a forum member who bought a VW flip up key I think and added his bmw key to it.

One design that Rightclick supplies or has supplied is a close copy of the VAG fob from the early 2000's, and can be supplied with a BMW blank blade.
Even if the fob isn't listed in their ad., they apparently can still possibly supply them.

I'm not sure if they are "right click" but I have a touring with this set up that will be broken in the near future. As Brian says it has the VAG style keys with a blue LED in them.
The blades are nothing short of dog shit!! Weak, they bend at the sight of the locks and the original keys still have to be utilised.

No blue neons in my VAG style Rightclick fobs. They are almost identical to the real item in appearance, but a little thinner. Never had the key blades cut on mine, but I have on other Rightclick fobs, and they seem OK for strength.

The Right click kit I bought recently for the touring has a fob very similar to the VW Transporter's fob that I hired a week or two back.
There's a tiny blue neon and three buttons on it,the electric boot one is obviously no use to me!The specialist car locksmith that I asked to cut the folding blade had problems until he discovered that the 'lands' or grooves in the blade were not quite the right shape.Once this was sorted out,he was able to make the thing work the ign lock.So far it has not bent.but he commented that it appeared to be 'cheap Ckink crap'...
However, the remote locking kit fitted easily by following Brian's guide in about half an hour.

I am sure I saw a post (back in 2009 when I had my cab) where someone used there own key in a VW flick fob.

The 'flick fob' has a boss on the end of the moving blade,I can think of no way that a standard flat blade can be modified in this way.sheehan879 wrote:I am sure I saw a post (back in 2009 when I had my cab) where someone used there own key in a VW flick fob.
Could it be that in the post you saw 4 years ago,the guy just used the rightclick fob AND a standard key?

This sounds identical to the ones I have.daimlerman wrote:The Right click kit I bought recently for the touring has a fob very similar to the VW Transporter's fob that I hired a week or two back.

The blades are all twisted and don't appear to fit the locks properly (so sounds like the groves thing).
I'd rather have a genuine torch key and a decent alarm fob linked to the locking IIH.
