The quality is second to none.

At my old place a customer bought a roof and I was extremely impressed.

No problem at all, just let us know... We have been big in the VW scene for about a year but really want to push the BMW products and in particular the E30.. the weight saving is huge, our Carbon Fibre Bonnet is about 4kg, Roofskin about 2kg and Boot is 2.5.. all are moulded from factory parts and bonnet and boot oem screw threads etc

The bonnets definately have my attention - What are the full differences between the £600 and £700 versions?

Hi, the difference is the inside frame on the £600 bonnet is infused GRP, very lightweight but not carbon. We do not wet lay any fibreglass... All is infused which is a vacuum bagging process that makes it much lighter and very strong... This is the same process for the carbon...

As a special to get the ball rolling on the forum happy to offer each of bonnets with £100 off this week and £50 off the carbon boot... :-)

Delivery is about 5 to 6 weeks...

Re the touring tailgate.. If there is interest we can mould it but would not take this on until the new year... We would need 6 orders to justify the moulding time but it is do able but not for the next few months...

There's a lip protruding from the edge on the touring tailgate which might be dificult to mould?

How many layers go into the cf? I was looking on fb earlier, some quality looking work there!

Would need to see the tailgate to comment nothing is impossible :-)

Regarding layers of carbon... Each product has 5 layers, 2 on the outer skins and 3 layers on the inner frames, there is also a core in the skin and then all resin infused, very strong, very light :-)

Looks like good work.

Any plans to do anything else e30 related, front wings, doors, tech 1 kits...?

Would be great to have a panels that can't rust and super strong.

Just have the roof, bonnet and boot at the moment for panels but if there is demand next year we can look at moulding but sadly not this year due to space constraints ...

We do have full carbon fibre door card kits, custom CNC cut to size and polycarbonate windows too...

Damn, you would make that offer now :p Will likely be in touch in the new year, about a full CF bonnet - Car respray a couple/few months in, and that would be the ideal time to fit :thumb: Pretty much spent out as far as this year goes!

Andrew, get going on E46 carbon roofs, the CSL roof is now NLA and lots of cheap copies flooding the market!

They are a piece of cake to manufacture and even easier to install than an E30 one! (but try and use the same weave).

Ill send my invoice for such tips in the form of a discount for a boot panel :)

Sorry, had not seen this message, must sort out my notifications! The cost would be about £550 per tailgate for full carbon and would weigh about 3kg approx

No worries,at that kind of wieght we will need to look into alternate gas struts to hold it open, the steel one with glass fitted is remarkably heavy!

Further questions;

Will your moulding be made to accept the standard trim, inside and out?
Would it take paint,to match body colour?
Would it be possible to mould it so that the glass fits without the channel around the sides and lower edge?
(this is where water gets past the stock seal, leading to rot, yes,I know carbon fibre does not rot but eliminating the channel and finishing the glass/moulding join with a coloured polyurethene sealer would look much better)

I'm interested,are five others?

If he does the moulds how I think he does them then they should be near enough identical copies of the original boot lid and trim should fit back?

Depending on timing and finances a touring bootlid sounds interesting. Carbon, wings (do you do these also?), bonnet, sunroof and now a boot lid would make for a significant weight reduction, I better get saving for all of it!

---edit---

Struts should be easy enough, http://www.gasstruts.co.uk/ can make them up to your spec.

Hi,

Right have now sorted out my notification settings so should not miss these conversations again!

All the interior trim could be fitted back onto it as it would be moulded from a standard part, all products can be supplied primed and ready to paint for just £50 more. Changes to the mould if i am honest will be tricky... we can try but 9 time out of 10 the finish is far better to mould and supply exactly the same as the original...

Thanks, Andrew

+1 for interest on the Touring tailgate. Mine's going rusty, so a carbon one wouldn't be a half bad idea, no rust and lighter :D
BMW and Opel, both RWD, both german, both good fun

I will start a separate thread regarding the touring tailgate... we can take this on...but from experience of the Corrado Tailgate it can be a long process and sadly we cannot put our business totally on hold to manufacture this but it certainly can be done but I would rather be upfront with expectation on timescales..

We would not be able to start this until about Feb time... The moulding time is likely to be 2 months... It is actually about 2-3 weeks work but we cannot stop everything else while do this so we have to fit it around the other orders and we are very tight for space in our workshop.

We would need a donor tailgate that is VGC, does this exist?! We would also need 5 placed orders, so not interest but actual orders... the cost would be £600 each.

I am not suggesting even thinking about orders at the moment until Feb time but this is what it would take to make this happen... I hope this doesn't come across negatively, just want to be realistic with you all but equally would love to make a part that there is good demand for :-)

That bonnet looks amazing. Please do some e36 bits :P

I'm sure you'd get plenty of people buying e30 m3 front wings and boot lids done to that sort of standard too.
cheers,
