Hiya guys a friend of mine brought a car it was hpi clear and listed as hpi clear. But after owning the car for 4 months he took it in for a service and to find out why the parking sensors where not working. The bmw guys saw signs of poor repair as the car requires alot of work to get it 100 percent. He rang up the previous owner whos a right cunt saying its not his problem and that it was listed hpi clear and it is and he does say he did buy it damaged and repaired it. Where does my pal stand the car is a 2011 bmw 335d the bill for the repairs were around 3k .IT Was brought privately where does he stand thanks .

sounds like the turd in question had a prang where circumstances meant there was no need to claim so it avoided the hit list,
this happens more often than not with todays rising premiums,

so where does he stand ? next to a badly repaired turd by the sounds of it.... :(

You're Mates fucked to be honest

The seller was honest and your mate should have checked the repairs out properly

HPi is to do with insurance loss and nothing to do with cars being damaged and not involving the insurer.

It is down to the owner to check the car before buying it.

Sounds like the previous owner got rid of a stinker

As Fastroad said, if a car has been repaired privately it wont hit the insurance write off list. Hence will remain HPI clear, or if the previous owner got it repaired through his own body shop of choice and passed the bill onto third party insurers. If that makes sense. This is what i was told by my insurance company
