This was the car :
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 365wt_1255
Price included sales commission.
I had a good static look at it. It hadn't been run for 2 years, although was MOT'd. To re-commission it for the road it needed :
1. Full new exhaust, plently of holes!
2. Locking wheel nuts seized
3. Drivers seat mech not working
4. Touch ups on front wing for deep scratches
5. Front badge corroded
6. Patches of rust on inside of front panel
7. Paint lacquer peeling on f/n wing
8. Horseshoe seal u/s
9. Torch corroded
10. Sign of overspray on heckspoiler
11. Alarm, original and aftermarket no working
12. Various rubbers perished in engine bay
13. 1 indicator no working
14. Radio code missing
15. Ariel not working
16. Replacement hood that fouls the side windows.
Nothing too serious, but add on tyres, all perished 1988 originals, cambelt, full service, brakes refit, fluid etc, and it starts to add up to a hefty price paid, and that's before any road test reveals anything else. Yes it was rust and dent free, interior mint, but once sorted, the bill can't be far off £8000??

No, not for me, I've driven a 320i Auto before! I was looking at it on behalf of someone else though, who set their limit a fair bit lower. Can you imagine trying to sell it in the current condition it is, on the open market?adit wrote:so are you pleased with your purchase or not Paul?

The interior had been sprayed with something like "Harry Moss show n shine spray" in an attempt to hide the somewhat neglected condition. Don't think the interior had been fed from new, but it would have come up nice with a little TLC..Fastroad wrote:Is it me or do them back seats look more used and worn then the front? They look worse then my 100k miles abused turd.

No, I gave up after the E30, it was such a slow auction. The auctioneers made everyone wait for internet bidders and phone bidders, bit of a shambles really. He was always hinting that unsold lots could be negotiated on after the sale...atlantis wrote:Don't suppose you noticed how much the red merc 300sl got up to? I noticed it did'nt sell
