To be fair, I think the design engineer at Baur was tooting crack in the 80's, didn't think much of the cab conversions either

It's not a Baur-design. This was a conversion done on the base of a Baur. Kohl is the largest BMW-dealer in Germany and maybe better known as AC Schnitzer.
