Fitting SE skirts, is there a template out there to drill the sills?

Im a bit dubious about drilling body panels especially if its the shell, only to find the hole is in the wrong place, :(
my Dad always said "check twice, drill once!"

Sooo, if there isnt a template out there what would be the best way to mark them up for drilling? my plan was to fit the skirt with just the bottom clamps, offer it it up so the white clips touch the sill, mark it where the spike touches, then drill??

Feel like Tiger sealing them on but the inner OEM homo in me says,
No, must be done right and proper! :)

Let me know when you've done it Lee, I have a set to go on too

But doing it the way you described would be the way I would go about it too. :D

put dabs of grease on the points of the white clips but you need the green plastic grommets to go in the holes and the white clips push into them .

I just fitted my tech 2 skirts and pods like this, put the clips in the skirt, knew the height anyway and marked with a gold marker on the sill just above the holes, checked it 3 times, drilled and no problems.

Good luck finding a template.

You need 2 people for this job to hold it steady whilst the other one marks it up.

Thanks for the advice lads and the link from Grrr, very helpfull.

Ive got all the green plugs and bottom clamps etc from BMW Mick but the white spiked clips they said they had to order them in and there was 25 in the bag, they wanted me to buy all 25 and wouldnt split!
So im using the ones i had lying about and had to nip to the breakers to grab a couple more off a touring i know of.

Don't know if they are the same clips as the mtech skirts, if so I have spare new ones if you want them.
