hi all just asking if i would be better to strip or sell complete really.. i have an e30 316 with a 320 engine and gearbox

its a chromie 2 door non sunroof with very minimal rust.. will need rear arches doing and thats it ! i can have both arches done by my friend who is a painter, panel repairer.. Quoted me £250 all in with the panels to do it properly ! and paint it.

or the other option is to sell her in bits ??

but what would make more money ? it has bucket seats, drift steering wheel, cheap budget suspension coilovers ( wouldnt even re sell them) , artec wheels with good tyres, front eibach anti roll bar, slight brown tinted windows, blue leather door cards, tech 1 spoiler

i have all the stuff including the original steel wheels to put it back to stock !

here is a pic of it

its a 316 via logbook and is very very clean, just unsure what its worth as whole ?

also it has new steering rack, new wishbones, new lollipop and bushes, all i can say is it does need better suspension but for £300 or less ! you can sort that out but i kinda know its worth between 1-3 k just not sure what to put it up for whole ? also its done less than 90k !

them inner arches look shot, your fella may do nice paint, but a 250 repair job on them wont be a proper job as it needs the inner arch wheel housings aswell (£90 each from bmw only) as the outer arch repair panels £40 each) so thats £260 in metal alone, then the welding then the paint, do do rear arches properly is a big job the whole outer arch and half of the wheel housing needs to be cut out to do it properly, you can see here ...

I dont want to sound negative but going on the rust issues, the fact its a 316 with a 320 engine, coilovers etc will lower the price dramatically.

Original, low owner, low mileage cars are the only ones that fetch strong money. It looks to have some valuable bits on it such as the chrome bumpers, wheels and tech 1 spolier.

I wont list what I think its worth, as a cars only worth what somone is wiling to pay, but 3K can buy you a good 325i.

well the repair panels i have for £20 each side and my friend will fab these from sheet metal himself ! he is excellent at his work and has done this for many of years !it wont be no knock of job and he done my old 325 for £400 ! so i know he can do it at a fair price for me !

That is a bag , tops.

It needs an engine, suspension and major arch surgery which will entail both sides being painted ,unless you want it to look like a chess board :(

Its value is in the fact that it is a tidy white chrome bumper twp door and it should be served complete. It would be a shame to break it and rather pointless from a financial perspective as there is not much on it of value.

well like i say i have all the bits to put back to standard and am willing to including the original steels with chrome center caps, seats engine exhaust and other bits !

the whole rear will be blown in with both arches repaired fully and a good job

dont wish to sound negative, but as you have gaping holes and rot in the inner arch, you need to buy the inners aswell (unless you bodge job it to look pretty and have rust come back later) the inners are £90 each side from bmw only , if you want a proper job, its not a case of just welding a £20 outer repair panel on there with holes and rot like that

The inners could be repaired effectively by someone who knows what they are doing but would be fairly intensive. As it sounds like it would be done at mates rates then why wouldn't the repair for £250 be feasible?

Its a white car, a good painter shouldn't need to paint down the whole side unless you're going to be really anal about it.

The rear inner arches aren't beyond repair. With the outers cut off, some repair patches could be made and mig'd in. the rest of the shell looks very tidy. With the arches done to a reasonable standard, I'd say it was £1250 plus as nice 2 door shells are so rare now.

Those inners can be repaired by someone with the right skills without a doubt! Looking at them from the boot they look fine so no reason to replace the whole housing at all! Being non sunroof adds to the plus points as well!

Nice "jacking" pads

With the arches done well and history backing up the mileage I'd say you could get the price Andy has mentioned, the modz might make it a harder sell though. If it was standard I think you'd easily get more.

so my idea is to put it back to stock do both arches and the inner arch as it is only one ! then jobs done !

i like the way people here like to slate everybody down and the zone has a good rep for it !

its not the end of the world and pretty sure they have some nice bodgy mods on theres !

well that my mind made up send it to my friend olly and let him play !
