Havent used my car since november as she is off the road for the winter...
since that it is a nice dry day today i started her up and took her for spin around the block..started and drove fine...except for the brakes!!!!,although they work ghey seem alittle spongey....and as i press and brake pedal it sounds like a footpump inthe passenger footwell!!!!!
Any idea what this could be????

Cheers

could only be 2 things, the servo (most likely) or a leaking brake master cylinder,
both are easliy got from any breaker, never had the joy of changing one with an engine in place so i cant give you any advice on changing it.
M40 rightness if you can get to 6000rpm noone can hear your tappets

the diaphragm in the servo is split, not the end of the world as your brakes will still pass an mot and stop you ,buying a good second hand one could be tricky as most will have the same symptoms unless you get one that's tested from a reliable zoner . i forgot to test the one on the 318is i'm breaking

glove box out and remove brake pedal bar from back of servo,it's just a clip and a pin. then take off the air intake trunk and airbox/afm to make some room for yourself. undo the two nuts on the master cylinder and it can be pulled forward and to the side slightly clear of the servo but be gentle with the brake pipes, back into the car and undo the four nuts that hod the servo in place.Under the bonnet undo the vac pipe and it will come out, there is a gasket on the engine bay bulkhead side so don't drop it and leave it there .

simples :D

i don't know if they can be repaired but i doubt it .

about £30 posted i'd say
