i have a flat battery, and i jump started the car, and it ran ok. then it died and i tried to start it again, still attached to my other car, via jump leads and it was totally dead. i have checked all the fuses and nothing appears to be blown, but still, there is no life in it. is there anything else that i could have fried.

When it was running the first time, did the battery light go out? When it's connected to the other car, do you get dash lights when you turn the key?
It can be something as silly as a loose battery terminal, especially if you're using jump leads.

Check engine to body earth strap, and for any fusible links in the main battery lead to the ECU - they are small flat sections hidden under the wire sheathing.

That's why I asked "what car". Only the 325 saloon has any fusible link, so not relevant to a 320.Speedtouch wrote:Check engine to body earth strap, and for any fusible links in the main battery lead to the ECU - they are small flat sections hidden under the wire sheathing.

???????? Only 'relay' on the steering column is the unit that flashes the indicators. I've never known one of these to have anything to do with a car running yet!spiderman wrote:found the problem, i had pulled out a relay on the steering column, and had not put it back in, but once plugged back in away she went. i'm not very good at all this tinkering. thanks for ant advice given.
There's a plug and socket clipped to the steering column half way down which can cause problems if not fully pushed together.
