pop ups ??

i keep getting a pop up window that appears briefly then closes

it's win an ipad or some shite like that,it started yesterday and i've also noticed words that are underlined in some of my posts and mainly in other peoples posts .

what's going on

Depending on what browser you are usng then have a look for ad blocker plus.

stops all pop up's & adverts.

I had exactly the same thing a few months ago, but can't for the life of me remember how I got rid of it, other than it involved a google search and a fairly simple procedure.

Mick, what OS & browser are you running?

I had this on google chrome & installed ad blocker plus & had no problems with pop up's since.

you can turn it on & off as & when you want.

Nope, window isn't underlined.

You've got some form of Adware infecting your PC.

Try using malware bytes. It's free and very effective in my experience.good luck!

'Spybot Search & Destroy' & 'Adaware', are good free programs too. Which should sort your issues out and find numerous other ones you wasnt aware of

all these sort of programmes "find" stuff, that doesnt really exist, giving you the impression its saving your day when, you dont need all that sort of shite jim they cause more aggro if anything , firefox and a decent anti virus and "clear cache" on exit settings, and cc cleaner to clear stuff, should do the job

Would disagree with this, have used both Spybot S&D and Malware Bytes to remove adware infections from computers that have been riddled to the point of barely working.

if youve got something, then these can remove it of course

but... if you ran it on a weekley basis, or even did a scan 2 hours after the last, they often come up with junk thats not even there, so you think they are doing a good job, same as a lot of anti virus software- 100% guarnteed if you installed every single one, one by one deleting the old as you went, they would all in turn find something new and different on its 1st scan

genraly stuff with silly names like "adware nuke" "sky bot destory" and crap like that, are the worst offenders

when a computer is at the point of barley working, a full wipe and fresh install is the only way to go, that should be done every1-2 years anyway

Do you know either of the 2 programs I have linked in or are you just going from your opinion? Both programs are good, I would not trust many others. CCleaner that Suchy recommended is also a good program.

Wiping a computer and starting fresh is always good, but you cant do that everytime it goes slow Just get rid of the Malware and it will sort your issue

Been using Spybot S&D for years. Excellent program, never had any false results, and has always found stuff when a problem has arose. Know a fair few IT bods who recommend it as well.

i've just added spybot s&d 2 ,latest version and although it found lots of threats that i have now immunized it hasn't cleared this particular problem

Unfortunately some little f**ckers make registry changes so prove v.troublesome to eradicate- the usual story of prevention rather than cure
