Looks like one of GW's logbook escapades has come back to haunt him.

No, I'm reliably informed that he'd been applying for V5's for various 'untaxed since 1983' CSL's. One of which turned out to be 'the car's been in my garage since 1983' and the owner took offence.
What a leg end.
Yes i've head about his various logbook shenanigans but not that one that had actually been in some ones garage since '83!Andyboy wrote:Hopefully not.bss325i wrote:So the phoenix is back in the uk?Andyboy wrote:Totally original car like the sweepers broom. No its not a trader although Barney Halse of Classic Heros is the guy that gave Munich legends its bad name back in the day.

Buy a solid 3.0CSi for 10 grand. Chuck 20 grand at it in restoration and CSL bits, screw the reg and VIN plates from a long dead CSL on and sell it for a 20 grand profit. That's why.
Some fishy going on's in the BMW WorldAndyboy wrote:pony wrote:

Pretty much they same as what's been going on with Ford Escort mk1 and 2 RS models for some time.Andyboy wrote:pony wrote:

I'm not sure Barney and GW can even be compared - that's pretty unfair.bss325i wrote:No its not a trader although Barney Halse of Classic Heros is the guy that gave Munich legends its bad name back in the day.

Is that actually true or is it a myth? I don't know, and I'm not saying its not true, but I've heard so many different variations of the story I do wonder. There are always 2 sides to every story of course. To get the whole story you'd need to speak to all concerned which probably would never happen! All I do know from dealing with both people mentioned above, one is a good bloke and the other is more slippery than a greased up weasel. Just my personal experience, I'm sure others will disagree.Andyboy wrote:Does GW liberate B7 Turbo LSD's?anothere21323i wrote:I'm not sure Barney and GW can even be compared - that's pretty unfair.bss325i wrote:No its not a trader although Barney Halse of Classic Heros is the guy that gave Munich legends its bad name back in the day.

The car was one of two TWR converted RHD B7 turbo coupes. It had 40000 miles and total history. It was at ML for sale or return, they had been robbing the then owner for many years in exchange for shoddy work .
I bought it as a trade car needing attention . When I noticed the LSD mia, I rung them and the scum denied all knowledge. It was obvious looking underneath that a safety conversion had recently been carried out . The continuos history mentioned nothing of diff issues or it being changed, in fact there was a ML bill from only a few months previous itemising 2l of LSD oil.
The car had been at ML for over a year on SOR......
It was confirmed many years later that the LSD /cooler ETC were used on a CSL race car.
I have plenty more tales of woe involving these inbred vermin

On the topic of M3's and prices.....
What do the panel think about E30 M3 cab's and where they are heading?.... They are all priced at £20 bags plus, but none seem to change hands for that, or change hands at all.... (not quickly anyway)
The exception being the one sold for £13 bags to them 786 boys a few months back, that was a quick sale indeed, but admitedly that was cheap as it was so nice..... so is a figure in that range or above (say £15K) the actual worth of a M3 cab, as the saying goes, a car is only worth what one is willing to pay.... £25K for a average to nice-ish seems abit rich in reality....
so if one was in the hunt for one, should he bite the bullet or wait and see what happens?

Glad we've cleared that up!
The whole 100'000 mile E30 M3 timing chain nonsense is down to that lot. Dan Norris and co seem to be getting the place back on track, but I always thought a name change would have been a smart move.pacerpete wrote:THE_GODFATHER wrote:pacerpete wrote:THE B7 TURBO WAS MINE AND YES ML STOLE THE LSD AND ASSOCIATED HARDWARE, IE ALPINA SPECIFIC COOLER,PUMP ETC BEFORE I COLLECTED THE CAR . New broom sweeps clean and all that. Wonder if there's many of the old staff working there? It would be fun to find out some of the other 'activities' that went on!
