Hi Guys,

I recently purchased a set of 15" BBS'.

I'd like to get these refurbished. I called a local firm in Wrexham called, the wheel restorer, which wasn't much help really as they guy told me no wheels have paint codes so they try to get the closest match to the colour on the wheel.... is this correct.

Does anyone have a code for Nagaro Silver?

The guy also harped on a about the silver lip and how this is polished, therefore expensive. I got the impression, perhaps this company wasn't the correct one to be talking to. Can anyone recommend someone in Wrexham or Chester, please?

I'd also appreciate an idea on the cost per wheel.

Cheers fellas.

:D

Sometimes it's cheaper to but a set refurbished but you didn't want to hear that.
Thanks Diable. They guy that sold them stated on two threads that they had been recently refurbished.... with all due respect, having had a quick look, just now as they have arrived at my office, they have been touched up using a marker pen...

Yes, Morat, he did mention deep dish, but I tried to explain these were orginal 15" alloys. Anyway, he's been sent some images, so I await the response.

cheers.

you dont have to polish a lip, rememeber if you do its then bare metal needs a lot of looking after, salt etc ruins it, although they do look 8) ive got a set with polished lip, although yet to be used after the refurb, its nice to get a set refurbed looking minty , polished lip should cost around £20-25 a lip, a normal metal finisher can do that as opposed to a "wheel refurber" who will no dbout charge more

lepsons are a reputable company ive seen a few lovely looking results from posted on here,i should imagine they would automaticly know what paint etc

Had a quote as follows:

The cost for a single colour as above on 15" wheels is :

2. £70

Per wheel inclusive

A two tone finish would be approx £20 more per wheel, and Centre caps painted and lacquered £10 each

So, £100 per wheel + £250 for the wheels and then four tyres.... Someone is having a laugh.

I paid £160 in April to get my fondmetals, soda blasted then powdercoated. £100 a wheel sounds very steep.

Wheel refurb is labour intensive...hence the cost.

A trip to a motor factor will get you wet and dry abraisive paper and a few aerosols.
Several evenings spent with a bowl of water and small bits of paper to get between all the BBS spokes will soon convince you that the experts know what they are doing charging £50/£70 per wheel!
But you will have the satisfaction of being able to say,'I did them myself'....

I'd gladly pay £50-70 a corner, Damiler. I've been quoted £100 each.

I've contacted Lepsons - they make my local guy seem reasonable...!

Lepsons quote (Wheel with tyre):

£80.00 per wheel.
Add £30.00 to this if Nagaro Silver is a special, non-stock colour (so add it!) and then it's a further £5.00 per centre cap. Don't forget the VAT on top of this.

Total per wheel = £115.00 + VAT
Total for a set = £552.00 (inc vat).

A collection charge of £80.00 + VAT is required if you want them to collect and deliver to you.

Looks like the job will be done by my chap in Wrexham. :D

I'd like Goldysing's and Rav's comments. I know goldy had this work done not so long ago.

£100 a wheel is pants down, I don't think even Lepsons would charge that much. Doing a wheel two tone like the motorsport rims isn't that much harder, just needs the rims masking out. There's plenty of wheel refurbers out there, Google is your friend!

No confusion I've ever seen, it's Polaris silver! Same goes for the Hartges and probably Alpinas. My Hartges have had a quick tart up using Polaris, got some extra caps off Ferg which have never been touched and they match perfectly.

Jepsons have just gone into the pants down business, then, Kedge! 8O

what on earth are you asking them ?

it says for 15 wheels in standard finish without tyre £55 per wheel

all you need to do is take them to your local indipendant tyre place and bung someone a tenner to remove the 4 tyres for you

then add for the nogaro, then the caps

This is one I did a while back for my touring,laches rim and satin black centre;

Image

It's by no means perfect, there's marks showing through on the lip,but for an everyday car they will be fine,in fact one pair were in use last summer. Those two are waiting for me to save up enough pocket money for a pair of Toyo's!

Cost?
Perhaps a fiver on wet and dry,the laches paint was mixed as a 'special' for about £16,satin black was about £8 per aerosol(cannot remember how many I used for 4 wheels, but it would be at least two)and clear laquer about the same again.

Go on,have a go,you may,just,suprise yourself!

MMM, all them prices are taking the piss at £100 per corner.
I can get "Anthracite" which is the closest colour to the finish you wnt, have the lips polished too.
I did Steve;s {Topless} RC090's done and also Dave (oldroydsr4) a few weeks back in that colour, and it wasn't far off.
I could have these done for you. winkeye

what do you want them to be... polished rim, silver wheels, nogaro center caps ?

if you just got them done in silver with no polished lip, it would be £55 a wheel, then get a couple of aresol cans of nogaro from paints4u.com, and paint the caps yourself, they are a doddle to do,and some brand new bmw badges for them from bmw for about £3 each

Mine were done at spit and polish using the leave the car with them service. Had to book a couple of months in advance for this.

Total cost was £301 including the VAT. It's more expensive to do it this way than just sending them the wheels.

Very pleased with the results.

Try rimfurbish in Birmingham:
http://www.rimfurbish.co.uk/

They are the refurb side of Rimstock, who supply lot's of OEM's in the UK (think Aston Martin). Not too bad on price, and I like the fact that they use a production line arrangement.
