Just spent the best part of this afternoon removing the dash for replacement, what fun !!
Shall we just say that, in the end, as it was already fubbered it will never be able to be used again !
Fitting the replacement starts tomorrow after a little wiring work,
:D :D

One of those jobs that is daunting the first time, I had the advantage of removing a couple from breakers before I actually swapped mine out. I reckon some lads on here will be able to do the full swap in under 2 hours.

Good luck with tomorrow

If not already done;
Lower steering column(tricky,as it's held by shear bolts)
Remove stalks from the column(dead easy,and gives more clearance)
Removing the windscreen also makes dash out/in easier.

I started removing mine today actually!

What a bloody hateful job, the left bolt that holds some trim on. Would not move!

I did mine on the touring recently, took best part of a day, but it all went well, and I'm well pleased with my replacement (£50) uncracked dash. Everything works, and all lights etc function!

getting the old one out isnt bad - getting the new one in without damaging it is no fun - I had to remove and refit mine twice as I forgot to put some of the air-ducting in the first time - I fitted it all up beautiful and then noticed a piece of pipe on the floor of the garage and the fookin lot had to come back out :x

When I was building up my touring,I had the engine/gearbox assembly on the hoist,poised over the engine bay when I spotted the clutch release bearing sat on the bench waving and laughing at me! :mad:

My wiring work has taken a little longer than anticipated,
Having said this, all of these comments are really making me look forward to starting re-fitting !
