So which bit illuminates? The numbering and the gates or the m-tech strips, or all of it?

Numbers & gate, ths m-tech strips aren't illuminated. IIRC you can stil buy these new from BMW

think it was around £100 mark, few years ago, probably gone up now like everything else from the dealers
