I knew this car was always on this drive as i see it from a distance when i go round a friends but tonight i thought i'd get a bit closer.

i'd say its in a poor state, rip in roof and faded paintwork, but its a 325i cab on a K plate

i'm going to knock on the door, assuming its rotten (worse case) what are these worth in bits, again assuming the running gear runs? Hopefully its save'able

only pic i could get

why ask what they are worth in bits? why not see if he wants to sell and what he thinks he will sell it for? then decide if it is saveable or not, based on looking over it properly. it's a late 6 cylinder comvertible in a nice colour by the look of it - not all cars need to be fragged.

Jump off your high horse, which part of "hopefully its save'able" did you miss?

I'm not a fool, its common sense to break it for parts if its not save'able

I haven't seen that many k plated 325i cabs. I think they are quite rare. Most of the K plated cabs I've seen are 4 cylinder (318i) but well spec'd.

It looks like it's been looked after but if it's rusty and not economical to save, dependant on the details of the spec it's worth £500-£750. If it's worth saving, you could end up with a bodyshop bill of £500-£1500 for metal and paint.

All parts you need to fix this up are available here and some of us are more welcoming than others, which is being addressed.

Others will chip in but remember this is all my opinion.

Good Luck, look at the wiki buying guide, it should be immensely helpful. :D

I've had one person knock at the door and an other approach me when I had pulled it out of the garage to offer to buy it. I wouldn't mind if they didn't treat you like a mug. Last one offered me 800 quid and looked at me like he was doing me a favor
