What other places can I find an engine?
Moderator: martauto
Where have you been looking?
Ebay?
Gumtree?
Here?
Other forums?
I found it was cheaper and easier to just buy a complete car with a running M20B25 though, gave me loads of spares and parts I can flog on.

Final D is right, just buy a runner with a rotten body and swap the engine...at least this way you can hear it running and test the engine...

There is a really nice one in Iver Heath...........
The one I sent you pictures of yesterday and stripped half the dash apart to check the gauge of the green wire with the purple spots that you were so interested in !

I'm not a timewaster at all, I am interested if what he has for sale, but like I'm sure everyone else would do. You still look around to find a better deal!

How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

People don't get the wrong idea. I'm not trying to waste your time. Yes I've been interested because I need an engine. But I need to work out what's best for me at the end of the day. Yes I've been speaking to different people about different engines. It's not like I've said to all of you yes I will buy it.
So try not to think of me to much as being a timewaster please because I'm really not.

You're looking for a 20+ year old engine. If you're PMing multiple traders on here, trying to shave a tenner off this price and twenty quid off that one, you're going the wrong way about it.
You really need to fix a price in your head of what you can afford, and then look at getting the best engine for that money. Don't save dosh, spend as much as possible, otherwise you'll end up with another rotten lump like you have done already.

Im not trying to shave a tenner here and there, i understand what you have all said. yes i have PMed a few people but thats to find out what they have and what is best for what i need not to mess anyone about like people are starting to think i have been doing.
i apologise to you all if this has affected you, and i am very greatful for all the help i get from the zone.

To be honest then, the best place to get an engine is here. Any engine you see on eBay is untrustworthy, gumtree ads are shockingly bad, and most of the other E30 forums are for drifters and "tuners" who would thrash an old M20 to within an inch of its life.
The Zone, with its Trader system and feedback forum, really is the most reliable source of used parts, so if you've had some genuine offers from people on here then it's best to choose one of them.
